Took full advantage of the beautiful weather today & worked on tucking some more of the flower beds in for their winter slumber.

This process is a non-chemical way to help manage w**d growth while simultaneously building up & infusing the the existing soil with added nutrients by the time spring arrives. “Beauty in the breakdown” as they say.💕🌻

Working hard on prepping the beds for spring while these fall days are still sunny & gorgeous! Since we are working towards being a no-till operation & trying to utilizing as few chemical interventions as possible, a lot of my efforts these first few years will be focused on cultivating & building up nutrient-rich soil.

Recycling old newspaper & gathering cardboard from local businesses is helping me achieving a richer soil here on the farm. The materials will decompose over winter & provide nice beds for seeds and seedlings in the spring.

Interestingly enough, I noticed that this particular section of newspaper highlighted my neighbor’s front page debut when he was elected County Circuit judge earlier this year. Just a small town full circle right there 😂

Fall clean up day around the farm! Prepping for next spring takes a lot of planning but it will definitely pay off when all the gorgeous blooms start coming in💕❤️

One thing I didn’t anticipate when I started Story & Bloom was how exciting it would be to see the look of surprise & joy on people’s faces when they get an unexpected flower delivery 💕 It has to be one of the purest expressions of happiness to witness & I love it!

Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of the big & small moments of your lives. I feel so honored that you choose me to help put a smile on the faces of people you love! ❤️💕🌻

As we head into August I can feel a shift starting to settle in around the farm 💕 My focus & planning is becoming more consumed with prepping fall beds, starting seeds, fall wedding work & getting things in order for an even better, bigger year in 2022!

That said, I will be cutting most of our current blooms this weekend & into the coming week. If you’d like to add a little bit of nature’s beauty to your life this week, comment, inbox or text me with your $20 flower order before they are all gone!

Find people who are passionate about their craft. My hairstylist hadn’t seen me or touched my hair in two months, yet seconds into my appointment today she said “your hair is thinner” & proceeded to listen & ask questions during our time together that lead us to the answer right before I left. She wasn’t there to get me in & out of the chair, she was all in, committed to the client in front of her 110% & it pays off.

She knows her stuff & it shows in her work. She is constantly striving to learn more & grow her business in ways our small town would’ve never dreamed of. All that to say, passion & knowledge shine when you love what you do. 💕

(Spoiler alert: don’t use a round brush hair dryer for the entire blow dry process, I was pulling all my blonde out🙈)

Y’all being outside everyday, working the land & growing beautiful things fills my cup up SO much. Even amongst the challenges, the struggles, the failures & pesky bug bites, my heart is so happy out here in the field.

Shew! What a busy & fun weekend! A HUGE thank you to all of y’all that placed bouquet orders! 💕🌻 I have felt so loved & supported the past two days & am thrilled to finally share some of the farm’s flowers with you guys! More flowers sales to come later this month so stay tuned!
