💍✨ Planning your big day in Massachusetts? Here are 5 key things to know before you say "I do"! ✨💍
1️⃣ Marriage License:
You and your partner need to apply for a marriage license at any city or town clerk's office in Massachusetts. Both of you must appear in person and provide valid IDs.
2️⃣ Waiting Period:
There’s a mandatory 3-day waiting period after applying for the license, so plan accordingly!
3️⃣ License Validity:
Your license is valid for 60 days from the date of application and can only be used in Massachusetts.
4️⃣ No Residency Requirement:
You don’t need to live in Massachusetts to get married here, making it a perfect destination for your dream wedding!
5️⃣ Officiant Requirements:
Ensure your ceremony is officiated by a registered minister (like me! 😉) or another qualified officiant recognized by Massachusetts law.
✨ Fun Fact: Massachusetts was the first state to legalize same-sex marriage in 2004, and it continues to celebrate love in all its forms. 🌈
