Derby photos are all wrapped up🖤
I want to take a moment to thank everyone involved in That Cry Baby's Derby week.
A big shout out to Churchill Downs security team for doing their due diligence, checking each day That Cry Baby was there with good intentions. In the same breathe, I'd like to thank them for allowing me to stay on the grounds to capture attendees. I recognize that if they wanted to they could ask me to leave.
Each year this project is more fulfilling. That Cry Baby photographed some people for the second year in a row and guess what? We remembered each other! That means something to me. Connecting with people is exactly why I love Derby Week.
A fourth of the participants each year take the time to really stop, pose and talk with me about the background of their unique outfits. Custom pieces, handmade fascinators, varying styles and vintage family pieces that date back generations. This is another reason I prioritize this project. The details.
This post is getting a little lengthy so I'll close it up with a final 'thank you, again' and 'see you next year!'
