Let me tell you two reminders which I've received over the past few days that have made today a beautiful day.
The back story: this retirement stuff is not for the faint of heart...but I LOVE each of the jobs I am doing! However. It has lead to a crazy house with stuff everywhere, paint that needs to be on walls, flooring still not ordered, car issues not dealt with, paperwork everywhere, alot of eating out and not going to the grocery. Just kind of chaos
Coming back from a burial the other day, I was chatting with Becky about hobbies and kids in sports and just busy life stuff. She said she set a goal to read a book a month and even with small kids she surpassed her goal. That encouraged me! Lesson 1. Put the phone down and make the time.
So today, I started to clean and organize the basement, but I stopped when the sun came out. 1I grabbed my book I've been reading for well over 4 years now!!! and headed for the pool. I open the book to this excerpt from (no relation) To Soften The Blow. And guess what...I read for while, then, following Lynnie's example, told God whatever was in my mind I was giving to Him for now, and I flippin took a nap! Woke up, read a little more and now going to get to ready and go have dinner with a friend that revives my soul every time I see her!
I'll work on the basement AND read again tomorrow. No more punishing myself for not getting things done, but motivating and giving myself permission to do more of what I love. Lesson 2. Grateful for both!
