Our Story
Bowood Barn: Central Virginia’s Full Weekend Wedding Venue Barn weddings can be a unique experience. All barns are different in style, mood, and character. However, Bowood can be as rustic or as traditionally styled to cast any decorated genre you want. Whether it’s muted earth tones or country burlap to flashy poppies and yellow roses! She is the ultimate backdrop to drape your ideas around.
Noteworthy is our flooring: the new tongue and groove Douglas Fir floor, intended for horse drawn carriage storage, makes for a wonderful floor worthy of the prettiest stilettos or flat leather dance slippers. We have plenty of gravel walkways to minimize dirt and mud should rain be an issue. A grassy courtyard with a canopy of string lights off the gable end of the barn is also a popular feature for evening gatherings. Whether it’s the day of decorating, rehearsal get together, an or evening wedding, the fire pit not only is mesmerizing but great for those who love s’mores! More soft luxurious grass to set up corn hole and games surrounds the courtyard. Electricity is available with lots of outlets throughout the barn, inside and out. Plenty of parking is located close to the barn. Staff is always on site to assist with questions and the entire weekend is dedicated to just one event. There is no pressure to set up and clean up. We also hope you will take advantage of our working farm. The animals are usually kept in pastures away from the barn to minimize insects and odors. However, if you schedule a photo shoot prior to the event, they may be included in the shots by the barn if you wish. An option for the newly weds is a horse drawn carriage ride.
