Building a Women's Retreat Is DIFFERENT 💕🌴

I've been working behind the scenes on women's retreat concepts, and one thing keeps coming back to me:

A retreat shouldn't just be a girls' trip with matching T-shirts and an itinerary. 😂

There's absolutely nothing wrong with a girls' trip—I LOVE one.

But a retreat needs intention.

I'm thinking about:

🌿 How do women feel when they arrive?
🧘🏽‍♀️ Where are the moments to actually slow down?
🍽️ How are we gathering around the table?
💬 Where does genuine conversation happen?
✨ What experiences help people reconnect with themselves?
😴 And PLEASE... where is the downtime?

Because nobody wants to attend a "rest and reset retreat" and come home needing four business days to recover. 😂

The beautiful venue matters.

The food matters.

The activities matter.

But I'm learning that the space between those things matters just as much.

Sometimes women don't need another thing to do.

Sometimes we need beautiful surroundings, good food, meaningful conversation, laughter, a little luxury...

and permission to just BE.

That's the kind of retreat experience I want to create.

🌎🍷 WHERE TO WEDNESDAY

Okayyyy, where are we going this Wednesday?

📍 NAPA VALLEY + W**E COUNTRY, Explore California 🍇🥂

And listen...

Napa is absolutely about the w**e.

But baby, it is NOT just about the w**e. 😂

You've got rolling vineyards, beautiful resorts, spas, Michelin-worthy food, cute little downtowns, scenic drives and enough tasting rooms to have you saying:

“Okay, THIS is my last w**ery.”

Knowing good and well you have another reservation at 3:30. 😂🍷

And the best part? Napa Valley isn't just one stop.

We're exploring a few places.

🍇 NAPA
Start downtown with tasting rooms, restaurants, the riverfront and **Oxbow Public Market**. This is a good home base if you want a little more going on after the w**eries close.

🥂 YOUNTVILLE
Cute. Walkable. Upscale. GOOD food.

This is where I'd go when the assignment is:

Eat well. Drink well. Look cute. Do absolutely nothing stressful.😂

🍷 ST. HELENA
Charming little Main Street, boutiques, restaurants and w**eries everywhere you turn.

Basically, we're stopping. 😂

♨️ CALISTOGA
Now if you want to add some wellness to all this w**e, head north to Calistoga for hot springs, spas and mud baths.

Because apparently drinking Cabernet and then going to the spa is called balance. 😂

🍇 SONOMA
And yes, I know Sonoma is its own w**e country destination, but if we have the time, we're going!

Sonoma Plaza, restaurants, w**eries and a little more laid-back w**e-country energy.

✨ WHAT ARE WE DOING?

🍷 W**e tasting — obviously.

🚂 Riding the Napa Valley W**e Train because w**e + food + a scenic train ride sounds like grown-folks field trip behavior and I fully support it. 😂

🎈 Hot-air balloon ride over the vineyards if we're feeling adventurous.

🥂 Long lunches where nobody is checking the time.

🧖🏽‍♀️ Spa day in Calistoga.

🛍️ Wandering through Yountville and St. Helena.

🍽️ Eating VERY well.

🚗 And driving through w**e country with a playlist that makes us feel like we're starring in a movie.

📅 WHEN TO GO

September and October are especially fun because it's harvest season, so there's a lot happening throughout w**e country.

But honestly, Napa can be beautiful throughout the year depending on what kind of trip you want.

Spring brings green vineyards and gorgeous weather.

Summer is lively and busy.

Fall gives you harvest energy. 🍇

And winter?

Give me a fireplace, Cabernet, spa robe and absolutely nowhere I need to be. 😂

💗 STACIE'S TAKE

Napa is one of those places where I am NOT building a 17-item itinerary.

No ma'am.

Give me two w**eries MAX, a beautiful lunch, maybe a spa appointment and enough time to actually enjoy where I am.

Because after w**ery number four, are we really learning about tasting notes anymore?

Be serious. 😂😂

This is a slow down and enjoy yourself kind of trip.

Perfect for:

💕 Couples
🥂 Anniversary trips
👯‍♀️ Girls' weekends
🎂 Birthday getaways
🍷 Food & w**e lovers
🧖🏽‍♀️ Wellness weekends
💍 And honestly...a little romantic “we needed to get away” trip

And if you're already coming to Northern California, you can easily turn this into a bigger adventure with **San Francisco + Napa/Sonoma** and get city AND w**e country in one trip. 🌉➡️🍷

Traveling Tips Tuesday ✈️

GROUP TRIP PEOPLE... gather around. 😂

Today's Traveling Tips Tuesday is about one little thing that can save approximately 17 arguments, 42 text messages, and one person saying "but I thought..." 😭

SET. THE. DEADLINES.

If you're planning a group trip, everyone should know early:

💰 When deposits are due
💳 When final payments are due
✈️ When flights should be booked
🏡 When room assignments become final
📋 When names/information have to be submitted
🚨 What happens if somebody misses the deadline

Because "I'll send it Friday" means something VERY different to everybody. 😂

And here's the part people don't always realize:

Deadlines aren't there to make the trip feel strict.

They're there so the trip can actually feel relaxed.

Once those logistics are handled, everybody can stop talking about payments and start talking about the important things...

Like who's bringing the speaker and what we're wearing to dinner. 😂

Save this for your next group tri and tag your group's unofficial trip coordinator because I KNOW they're tired. 😭👇🏽

You Do NOT Have to Plan This Alone ✈️💕

Can I remind somebody of something?

You do NOT get extra vacation points for planning the entire trip by yourself. 😂

You don't have to spend three weeks comparing 47 Airbnbs.

You don't have to be in six different WhatsApp conversations with drivers, excursion companies, restaurants, and the villa host.

And you definitely don't have to be sitting by the pool confirming tomorrow's transportation while everybody else is three margaritas into vacation. 😭🍹

That's really what having your trip curated is about.

It's not just, "Here are some flights and a hotel. Have fun!"

It's thinking through the whole experience:

✈️ How are you getting there?
🏡 Where are you staying?
🚐 Who's picking you up?
🍽️ Where are we eating?
🏝️ What experiences actually fit YOUR group?
⏰ Does the itinerary make sense without everybody needing a nap by Day 2? 😂

Sometimes the luxury isn't a five-star resort.

Sometimes the luxury is simply not having to think about every damn thing.

And THAT I understand. 😂💕

✈️🌎 WHERE TO WEDNESDAY

Okayyyyy, we’re officially kicking off my new weekly travel ritual, Where To Wednesday! 🩷✈️

Every Wednesday, I’m taking you somewhere different. International. Domestic. Luxury. Affordable. Hidden gems. Old favorites. And probably a few places that will have us checking flight prices before we even finish reading the post. 😂

But there was NO WAY I could start this series anywhere other than HOME.

🌉❤️ THE BAAAAAAAAAAAAAY AREAAAAAAAAAAA

Before all the traveling, the Dominican Republic adventures, the event life and me constantly saying *“Wait…how much is the flight?”* 😂 there was the BAY.

And let me tell you, the Bay Area is so much more than San Francisco.

Yes, we're going across the Golden Gate Bridge. Yes, we're taking the obligatory picture. But we have PLACES TO GO. 😂

✨ WHY GO?

Because you can get city, coastline, w**e country, incredible food, sports, culture, redwoods and some of the prettiest views in California all in one trip.

And please bring a jacket.

I don't care what month you're coming.

Bring. A. Jacket. 😂

🌉 WHAT ARE WE DOING?

📸 Hit the Golden Gate Bridge because obviously.

🚋 Ride a cable car through San Francisco at least once. Tourist behavior is completely acceptable here. 😂

🦭 Head to Pier 39 & Fisherman's Wharf and say hello to the sea lions.

🏝️ Take the ferry over to Alcatraz. And YES, the audio tour is worth it.

🌳 Cross the bridge and walk among the redwoods at **Muir Woods**.

🍷 Make a day trip to Napa or Sonoma because we are grown and w**e tasting counts as an activity. 😂🍷

🌊 Drive the coast, explore Sausalito, grab some food in Oakland, catch those Bay views and give yourself time to explore outside of the usual tourist stops.

And depending on the season…

🏈❤️💛 WE MIGHT NEED TO GO SEE MY NINERS!

Because if we're anywhere near Levi's Stadium on game day, I already know what time it is.

🍴 WHAT ARE WE EATING?

Now THIS is where the Bay starts showing off.

Give me fresh seafood, sourdough bread, dim sum in Chinatown, a Mission burrito, Oakland food spots and something sweet from Ghirardelli.

And if somebody tells you the Bay doesn't have good food, politely remove yourself from that conversation. We don't need that kind of negativity on vacation. 😂

📅 WHEN TO GO

Plot twist: September and October can actually be some of the BEST months to visit San Francisco.

Summer can have you standing there in July wondering why you're freezing. 😂

Early fall usually gives you warmer days, fewer summer crowds and beautiful weather for exploring.

The Bay will always be special to me because **it's home.**

And sometimes when you've lived somewhere, you forget how amazing it actually is because you're busy doing regular life.

But the Bay Area really does have its own energy.

You can spend the morning walking along the water in San Francisco, have lunch in Oakland, cross the Golden Gate, end up in w**e country and STILL feel like you didn't even scratch the surface.

It's diverse.

It's beautiful.

It's a little weird. 😂

It's expensive as hell. 😂😂

But it's HOME. ❤️

And I couldn't think of a better place to kick off

First Cruise? Start Here 🚢

So you finally decided to take a cruise.

Now you're looking at 47 ships, 93 itineraries, drink packages, excursions, balcony rooms, interior rooms, specialty dining and something called "The Key." 😂

Welcome to cruising.

Before you book, I always think there are a few better questions to ask than simply, "What's the cheapest cruise?"

What kind of vacation do you actually want?

Do you want nightlife and activities or quiet and relaxing?

Are you traveling with kids, adults, couples, or a little bit of everybody?

Do you care more about the ship or the destinations?

And here's a big one: How much are you really going to spend once you're onboard?

Because that $499 cruise can start getting real creative with your bank account. 😂

The right cruise isn't necessarily the newest ship or the cheapest fare. It's the one that matches how you like to vacation.

The Passport Check Before You Book ✈️

Before we talk resorts, excursions, matching airport outfits, or who gets the room with the balcony… 😂

Can we check the passports first?

This is one of those boring little travel details that can become a VERY expensive problem later.

Before you book an international trip, pull out your passport and check:

✈️ Is it expired or getting close?
📅 Will it still have enough validity for the country you're visiting?
📝 Does the name match your airline reservation exactly?
📖 Do you have enough blank pages if your destination requires them?

And please don't wait until two weeks before the trip to discover somebody's passport expired in 2024. 😩

I love starting with the fun part of planning, but sometimes the smartest first step is simply making sure everyone can actually leave the country.

🇺🇸 Retired Veterans…this one’s for you. 🇩🇴

I’ve been wanting to share this because I don’t think enough veterans realize what’s available to them in the Dominican Republic.

If you’ve served our country and you’re looking for a slower pace of life, a lower cost of living, year-round sunshine, and a community that truly appreciates veterans, you should seriously consider Puerto Plata, Sosúa, or Cabarete.

One of the things I love most about living here is how much respect Dominicans have for U.S. veterans. You’re welcomed, appreciated, and thanked for your service in a way that’s genuinely heartfelt.

What surprises many veterans is that there’s also a growing support network here.

Many veterans living in Puerto Plata have access to specialized clinics that help navigate the VA Foreign Medical Program (FMP) for service-connected disabilities, along with English-speaking medical providers and assistance with VA documentation.

Depending on your eligibility, veterans may have access to services such as:

🇺🇸 Primary medical care

🩺 General medical evaluations

🧠 Mental health counseling

💊 Medication management and refills

🩻 Physical therapy and rehabilitation

📄 Assistance with VA claims, DBQs, Nexus Letters, and FMP documentation

🤝 Care coordination with VA-approved programs

Many clinics also help veterans navigate the paperwork so they can receive the benefits they’ve earned. Services related to service-connected conditions may be covered through the VA Foreign Medical Program for eligible veterans, while some clinics also offer complimentary services or consultations for veterans depending on the program.

And beyond healthcare…

You’ll find an active veteran and expat community, affordable housing, excellent private hospitals, direct flights to the U.S., beautiful beaches, and a quality of life that’s hard to put into words until you experience it yourself.

Since making the Dominican Republic my second home, I’ve built relationships with attorneys, residency specialists, real estate professionals, healthcare providers, transportation companies, and fellow veterans who are passionate about helping others make the transition.
