The Creation of The Jonjy Project

The Jonjy Project is a music project established by Daniel Pinho. Daniel began playing instruments when he was a child, progressing from rock & jazz guitar to drums, keyboard, and cello. He imagined and adopted the pseudonym “Jonjy” during this period as a nickname. In 2007, he entered the realm of producing by recording his bedroom guitar performances and arranging them over MIDI drum tracks on a demo version of Cakewalk's Music Maker Deluxe.

As a young adult Daniel went through a prolonged creative slump as he attended college and spent a few years serving in the military. From 2015 to 2019, he began to revisit creativity by diving into the production of electronic dance music. He sought to define a new sound through a fusion of his current inspirations — trance, house, dubstep, drum & bass — with those of his childhood — rock, jazz, metal, and classical music. His inspirations span a wide variety of groups, including Hans Zimmer, Above & Beyond, The Midnight, Stephen Bodzin, and I See Stars.

The creation of The Jonjy Project in the beginning of 2020 signals the resurrection of his creative alias and the commitment to pursue his passion of making and sharing music with the world.
