Oops… I hurt myself.
Apparently when you’re losing weight, training hard, and feeling unstoppable… your body sometimes humbles you.
A few weeks ago I pulled something in my glutes. I thought I was fine. Then Saturday, I was jogging across the road with friends — and the entire back of my leg (hamstring? whole posterior chain? who knows 😂) seized up and DROPPED me to the ground like a hot potato.
And not on a cute little side street.
A major freeway.
What happened next shook me in the best way.
Out of nowhere, these incredible Mexican humans came RUNNING. They stopped traffic. They risked themselves. They lifted me up, carried me, made sure I was safe. Complete strangers. Total angels.
I honestly believe they saved me from something much worse.
And here’s why this hit so deep…
Some of you may remember a few years ago when I broke my toe. I couldn’t walk. I had to drag myself on my hands and knees in and out of urgent care, across parking lots, eventually to the ER — crying, asking for help — and people literally turned their backs.
That experience broke something in me.
This one healed it.
To go from being ignored in pain…
To being surrounded by strangers who risked their safety to protect me…
It restored something in my faith in humanity.
The kindness here is real. The heart here is real. And I will never forget it.
As for me — I’ve been a good girl. Two full days of rest, lots of ice, and one amazing friend here who happens to be a doctor gave me some peptide shots that have helped tremendously with pain and healing. I’m already feeling so much better.
Humbled. Grateful. Healing.
And maybe stretching a little more from now on.
