The Beecher House was overflowing with love as people gathered for our annual Healing and Wellness Weekend. ❤️‍🩹

This weekend retreat serves as a loving time of encouragement and support for people who are living with chronic illnesses or who need a place of community and healing. Originally created by DBZ resident monk Donge John Haber as a retreat to offer a caring and inspiring space for those living with HIV and AIDS, it has evolved over the past 30-plus years. The weekend included an O-Bon ceremony to celebrate the lives of participants’ deceased loved ones, daily meditation, yoga, and a writing workshop. Each participant received massage and shiatsu from practitioners who volunteered their time and expertise.

The Solarium, added to the Beecher House during its 2022 renovation, serves as a versatile extension of the common space. It offers a seamless transition to the outdoors, perfect for enjoying the fresh air and natural sounds.

The Solarium can be incorporated into the Dining Room for larger gatherings or used as a dedicated practice space for activities such as yoga, Shiatsu, meditation, and tea ceremony.

The exquisite mural in the Beecher House Living Room was painted by Father Nyokyu Maxima, a Japanese artist and Greek Orthodox priest and friend of Sōen Rōshi. It depicts the transmission of the Dharma from Shakyamuni Buddha to Mahākāśyapa. 🪷

Originally used as the Dai Bosatsu Zendo Dharma Hall, the Beecher House Living Room is a wonderful place for bringing people together for services, ceremonies, or even just relaxing with good company. This room features the original fireplace used by the Beecher family along with a stunning view of Beecher Lake. 🌿
