We are (almost) done with our brand new pavilion addition! Perfect for hosting a company picnic, graduation party, birthday party, or cocktail hour/wedding reception. What’s missing are the glass, retractable doors that will keep bad weather out, and the amazing views in! Oh, and did we mention it will be heated? December brides, don’t sacrifice anything! Couples can get married out on the patio closest to the water, or stay comfortable regardless of the weather in the sheltered space, doors opened or closed! We can’t wait to show the final product off, and we hope to see you soon!

The wait has been arduous, but there’s light on the horizon for Brad Wentz and his family, newlyweds John and Skyler Birkbeck.
They run the Little Bear Golf Club and the Wenbeck at Little Bear event space at 1940 Little Bear Loop in Orange Township. For the better part of a year, they have been overseeing a massive renovation of their 11-hole, par-3 golf course and adding an 18-hold putting course.
You know the drill – rain, mud, dust and supply chain delays, just to mention a few of the joys of construction. Not to mention the particulate from the construction that twice clogged their air conditioning unit and set off the fire alarms.
But the end is within sight.
John and Skyler, who were just married in August, are anxious to reopen Little Bear Golf Course to the public in late spring or summer. John serves as the general manager of the facility while Skyler is the events manager. Brad owned Buckeye Heating and Cooling for 17 years and is now the president and owner of Little Bear.
When completed, the course will feature state-of-the-art synthetic surfaces on the putting greens and the first, 18-hole putting course in the state. It also will have the synthetic surface.
“It’s been a grind, no doubt,” John said. “But once this course reopens, people are going to be amazed at the difference. It’s going to be a fun, well-maintained golf course that you can play in under 90 minutes.”
Little Bear Golf Course had been closed and overgrown for several years when Brad, Skyler’s father, purchased the club house and event facility in 2019. Wentz also added a 2,500-hundred-square-foot event facility on the grounds between the clubhouse and a pond. The indoor ballroom – the Wenbeck at Little Bear – can host up to 210 people.
“We are the ideal place for events of 210 people or less,” Skyler said. “We have ample parking and the outdoor venue is ideal on nice days when the pavilion doors can be opened. The indoor space has an incredible view of the golf course. We’ve turned the downstairs pub into a sport bar. Little Bear is just a few months away from returning to an incredible, all-round facility.”
Little Bear Golf Course is open to the public and offers 12-month memberships – both individual and family. Golfers also can play by the round.
