A concert and fireworks night at Town Park in Point Lookout with a BBQ cook-off and Mike DelGuidice headlining. That one is the Crew Pick, so we are going. A street fair in Ronkonkoma with vendors and live music. The last outdoor movie of the summer, on the beach in Long Beach. A craft fair at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. And a four day food truck rally in Deer Park.

WE SAID GO. SO WE WENT.

Downtown Sounds at Village Square, put on by the Glen Cove Downtown BID. Thirty seasons in and it still feels like a block party that got out of hand in the best way.

Free, every Friday since July. Free parking in the Brewster Street and Pulaski Street garages. That '70s Band ran Donna Summer, CHIC and Earth Wind & Fire.
Everybody starts the night in a lawn chair. By the third song the chairs are empty and nobody knows who stood up first.

The Last Bark of the Summer at Great South Bay Brewery, put on by Paw-Ty Time. Rain moved it inside and it worked out better than the b**r garden would have.

Free to walk in, dogs welcome, and a room full of local vendors.

The costume contest had a red carpet. The dogs were not impressed.

Five things worth doing this weekend, August 21 to 23.

A dog festival at a brewery in Bay Shore with local shelters, adoptable pups and a costume contest. That one is the Crew Pick, so we are going. A block party on Bedford Avenue in Bellmore. Disco and funk in Seaford. A breast cancer awareness tribute at Heckscher Park in Huntington. And eighty crafters plus food trucks in Smithtown.

Four of the five are free.

We put the Feast of the Assumption at number one last week, so we went.

115th year in Westbury. Rides, games, a casino tent, Italian food and a live band every single night since 1911.

We went Thursday, which is the quiet night. If you go next year, Saturday is the one. Mass at five, a procession behind a marching band, fireworks around nine. And bring cash, it runs on cash inside.
