Sometimes people aren't dancing because it's their favorite song.

They're dancing because they're with their favorite PEOPLE.

The music just gives everybody a reason to come together.

And honestly, those are some of the best moments of the night.

🎶 A LITTLE WEDDING ADVICE FROM THE DJ BOOTH!

Brides and grooms, your wedding is YOUR day. If you don't want certain songs played, that's your decision. If you want a carefully selected playlist with absolutely no guest requests, that's perfectly fine, too!

But here's something worth thinking about.

Does your bridal party know? Does your family know? Do your guests know?

Because when guests approach the DJ requesting their favorite songs, they usually have no idea the couple has already instructed the DJ not to accept requests.

Now the DJ is stuck saying no all night, and suddenly the DJ is being called rude or unaccommodating for following the couple's instructions!

Here's a simple solution: right before open dancing begins, have someone make a quick announcement:

"We've put together a special selection of music for tonight's celebration. We won't be taking song requests, but we hope you'll enjoy what we've chosen and come celebrate with us on the dance floor!"

That's it! Everybody knows what to expect.

And while we're at it, if you've planned a special dance, game, surprise performance, or any activity requiring a particular song, please let your DJ know ahead of time. We can't prepare for something we don't know is happening.

After 200+ weddings, one thing I've learned is that clear communication makes a huge difference.

Your wedding. Your music. Your rules. Just make sure your guests know the rules, too!

Something else people don't see about mobile DJs…
The music doesn't magically appear on the laptop when we get to your event. 😂
Before the first guest walks through the door, we've already been working.
Reading your planning forms.
Going through your requests.
Finding the right versions of songs.
Checking for explicit lyrics.
Organizing ceremony music.
Preparing special dances.
Building playlists.
Making sure we've got backups.
And here's the funny part…
We may prepare 300 songs for an event and only play 80 of them.
Why?
Because we don't know exactly what YOUR crowd is going to respond to until we're standing in front of them.
That playlist isn't necessarily the plan.
It's the toolbox.
Once the party starts, we're watching.
What got people moving?
What cleared the floor?
What age groups are responding?
What song made somebody run from their table yelling, “THAT'S MY SONG!” 🤣
Then we're making decisions in real time.
That's one of those behind-the-scenes parts of DJing people rarely think about.
You're not just paying somebody to have music.
You're paying somebody to know what to do with it.

A CHANGE COMING TO LASTING MEMORIES ENTERTAINMENT
After more than 200 weddings, we've learned a lot about what we do best—and what we want the future of LME to look like.
Over the years, we've provided ceremony sound and music for dozens of weddings in addition to receptions. Going forward, however, Lasting Memories Entertainment will be specializing in wedding receptions and will no longer offer ceremony DJ/audio services for new bookings.
Why?
Because we want to focus completely on what we do best:
THE CELEBRATION.
Your grand entrance.
Your first dance.
Parent dances.
Dinner and background music.
Introductions and scheduled reception formalities.
And then…
OPEN THAT DANCE FLOOR. 🔥
That's where we want our attention.
Wedding ceremonies involve an entirely different type of production - additional locations, microphones, wireless transmission, power requirements, outdoor environments, additional setup, equipment placement and coordination between numerous people and vendors.
We've done it successfully many times.
We've simply reached the point where we've decided it's no longer the service we want LME to provide.
If your ceremony and reception are at the same venue, your venue, coordinator or another ceremony-audio provider will need to handle the ceremony sound and music. LME's services will begin with the reception.
We're also tightening the definition of what our DJs and MCs do.
We're an entertainment company, not a wedding coordination company.
We'll introduce your wedding party. We'll announce your first dance. We'll introduce speeches and toasts. We'll play your music. We'll work with your coordinator on the reception timeline. And when it's time to party, that's our lane.
But we're not going to dismiss dinner tables, gather people for photographs, chase down members of the wedding party, coordinate catering, direct guests around the venue or manage the wedding itself.
Your coordinator coordinates.
Your DJ entertains.
We believe that separation actually allows everybody to do their job better.
After 200+ weddings, we've earned the right to take what we've learned and build LME around the services we genuinely want to provide.
So that's where we're headed:
Wedding receptions. Parties. Corporate events. School events. Karaoke. Dancing. Music. Entertainment.
That's Lasting Memories Entertainment.
