HAPPY HEAVENLY BIRTHDAY DINO!!! Dino Crocetti was born on June 7, 1917 in Steubenville, OH from Italian parents, Angela and Gaetano. After working in steel mills, dealing cards and boxing, he became one of the most famous and successful entertainers in the world, with a career that spanned for almost 60 years. DEAN MARTIN would have turned 106 today and he is still missed by millions of fans in each and every country. I truly miss him too.

Just like every year around this Holiday Season, I'd like to remember my one and only role model and likely the most likeable, successful and kind entertainer ever: Dean Martin! Dino passed away at age 78 on Christmas day 1995 but his legacy is still very strong. His movies are still aired and his hit songs played all over the world and even used for several commercials and included in contemporary movie soundtracks. Tonight I am having one of his favorite meals: spaghetti tomato and basil and a bottle of chardonnay. Here's to you, DINO!

I learned earlier today that legendary pool champion, World champion and BCA Hall of Fame inductee Ed "Champagne" Kelly has passed away at age 80.
We had been friends for the last 25 years and got together pretty often. I will miss him and he will be missed by many.
Rest in peace Eddie.

It is with huge pleasure that I learned the names of the two BCA Hall of Fame inductees for this year: Gerda Hofstatter and Kim Davemport. Excellent picks! Both are great champions and fully deserving the induction! Congratulations to Gerda and Kim!
I just learned that I am being considered for an outstanding award, which leaves me humbled and extremely honored. This compels me to briefly recap my 30+year pool career through some old pictures. I am very grateful to those who so generously keep holding me in such high esteem. GRAZIE!
Yesterday I was thinking of the many friends I made through playing pool and Gene "The Mighty Glove" Catron came to my mind. Gene passed away in 2005, age 54. He was very underrated, in spite of being a very good all-around pool player and an experienced trick shot artist. He became famous for his trick shots involving Domino tiles but he could consistently make some very hard shots. One of them is the "Airborne Double Kiss", a very difficult shot which I replicated for you all to enjoy. Here's to my good friend Gene Catron!
Look who I ran into yesterday. I wish I had taped the both of us bowing to one another. How funny and what an honor to have the legendary Efren "The Magician" Reyes bowing to me every time we meet.
Today my good friend and former World Boxing Champion Nino Benvenuti turns 80, and he is stronger than ever! I wish him a happy birthday and many happy returns! All the best to you Nino!

I am deeply saddened by learning of my good friend Nestor Gomez passing. Nestor, or Nene', like we all called him, won the World Title in the Italian 5-pin billiard game twice and the Intercontinental title 5 times. Originally from Argentina and later naturalized Italian. He was a wonderful man and I am honored to be able to say that we have been friends since 1990, when he taught me how to consistently jump a ball. His son Camillo is a very promising and talented champion too. To Camillo and his family go my deepest condolences. RIP dear Nene'.

I am deeply saddened as I just learned that my friend, Hall of Famer and legendary pool champion Jimmy Fusco has passed away. Another huge loss for our sport. My heartfelt condolences to Jimmy's cousin Pete and to their families. Ciao Jimmy!

Last night Team Europe (myself and Florian) won over Team USA (Dr. Cue and Abram Diaz). After I beat Tom 12-11 and Florian took care of Abram, we started the final match with a 2-point lead. The match was stopped before completing all the shots as Team USA could not catch up even by making all the remaining shots. I'd like to thank Florian for putting together such a nice event that brought me back to the ESPN years, the Rio Hotel and Casino and Skill-Con for hosting the event, Jason Lynch for his tech support and commentary and, last but not least, my fellow champions for their impeccable sportsmanship.
One of my all time favorite cues, a Longoni that was made for me in 1998 is now up for sale. I played with this cue, which comes with 2 regular shafts and a masse shaft, from 1998 until 2004.
