Happy National Cat Day! 🐾

Here at Hyacinth House, we love our kitties! They’re as much a part of our team as the employees themselves!

Fern is our newest (and orangiest) addition, and she’s brought us so much joy since the day she we spotted her in the ferns. She’s curious, clever, and as sweet as can be. You’ll often catch her zooming through the greenhouse chasing little critters, or lounging up front in the shop where she can greet all our customers. Fern has a knack for making everyone smile — whether she’s batting at a cricket, snoozing in a sunny spot, or making round in the greenhouse like she’s the supervisor.

Lily is our elegant grey loaf. She spends most of her time downstairs with our designers, where she’s claimed a basket as her own and enjoys being spoiled absolutely rotten. Lily prefers the quiet life — long naps, gentle pets, and the occasional adventure upstairs to soak in the sun. She can often be found nestled between peace lilies, blending in perfectly like one of the plants herself.

And of course, we can’t forget Ramsey. Though he’s no longer with us, his feisty personality and fluffy face are forever part of the Hyacinth House family. Ramsey ruled the greenhouse in his day — a little mischievous, a lot of heart, and always keeping everyone on their toes. We miss him dearly, but his spirit still lingers in the corners he once patrolled.

Our cats bring life, laughter, and love to our days, and we’re so grateful to share our space — and our hearts — with them.

Did you know? These beauties are often called Christmas cactus, but surprise — they’re actually Thanksgiving cactus! 🌸

There are three varieties of blooming cactus, each identifiable by their leaf shape and the season they flower. Thanksgiving cactus have pointed, spiky leaf segments (pictured) and bloom in the fall. Christmas cactus feature more defined, scalloped edges and bloom around the holiday season. Easter cactus have rounded leaf margins and typically bloom in the spring.

If the chill has you down, escape to our cozy, balmy greenhouse bursting with color and blooms. Take a break, soak in the warmth, and pick up a Thanksgiving cactus along with one of our fun new containers!
