This past summer I had the opportunity to film a video for on a Wyoming - Montana road trip.
I couldn’t have asked for a more epic and memorable experience. This trip changed a lot of my interests and unlocked new passions for me (such as attempting wildlife photography), which has quickly become my favorite thing to do.
Big thanks to for going with me and killing the acting parts, or as he likes to say “the guy to walk in and out of frame”. 😂
Fun video Facts:
52 Seconds: The shot of wolves took all day to get. We knew an area where the Junction Butte pack had their den. So we waited out with a group for an entire day hoping to catch a glimpse. The only reason I even ended up getting that shot was because an older gentleman was glassing a hill in the opposite direction of the den for me. He spotted them as they made their only appearance for the day which only lasted around 10 seconds.
44 Seconds: The night I took this Milky Way Timelapse was my last opportunity to get it. The first night we tried to shoot it we were completely alone in a valley when a pack of wolves started howling around us. I got super spooked and called it quits 😂. I am not afraid of wolves, but there’s something super eerie about being in complete darkness while a pack communicates around you.
The Voiceover: I finished the voiceover to this while waiting in the Jackson Hole airport for Luke. I knew I wanted the video to be about the stories that naturally happen when you're spontaneous and don’t force / plan things to happen.
The last line: “Make the decision to go, and the story will follow”, is often something that I have to remind myself of when I am feeling too tired or scared to break out of my comfort zone and do something. When I reflect on all the times I’ve broken through that level of fear, I am always left with great memories, stories, and the understanding that there was nothing to be afraid of in the first place.
