First off, I’m human, so I know honest mistakes are to be expected in life, but I am constantly in my head about how I can improve my small business and "sharpen the pencil."

I hold my team to high standards, but only after establishing those standards for myself. If you aren’t chasing perfection, you are running in the wrong direction. But IMO, a lot of these notes are basic, common sense paired with pretty standard human decency.

Vendors are humans too, talents and flaws and all, but after all these years in the industry, I have learned we are not all created equally. Do your research when booking, and when in doubt, hire a planner for vetted referrals.

• Checking in with every vendor all day long and making sure they are on time and held accountable.

• Putting out personal inventory.

• Protecting your timeline, whether that be herding the wedding party where they need to be or putting out vendor fires.

• Making dinner plates for the bride and groom, and checking in on parents to make sure they eat.

• Loading up leftover cake, gifts, personal items, and to go food for the couple and parents at the end of the evening.

You deserve to enjoy your day - not manage it!

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to plus ones. It’s all about what makes sense to your guest list, your venue, and your budget.

Every guest impacts your wedding day in countless ways: layout, centerpieces, catering, bar, cake servings, invite counts, etc., it’s the ultimate snowball effect.

Even details like venue capacities and proximity to unsupervised waterfront property can really force a couple to evaluate if children should be invited in an era where adult only receptions are becoming more common in SWLA.

Make sure you curate your guest list to extend plus ones with a purpose and not from outside pressure.

Obviously, we live and breathe weddings, but have you ever thought of the traditions behind them?

Most of them stem from warding off jealous suitors or evil spirits. We know life was crazy then. What can we say 🤷🏻‍♀️?

Luckily, now we don’t have to worry about any of that! But if you want to have a sword fight in the middle of your ceremony, we won’t judge!

Filling out vendor forms on time is so important to helping your day run smoothly.

Answering with I don’t know, or not answering at all, doesn’t really set you up for success or guide us to giving you the day you want.

So please don’t make your vendors chase you down to answer questions.
