𝗟𝗘𝗧’𝗦 𝗚𝗘𝗧 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟 – for a long time, our compost pile looked like a mountain-side crime scene. Trying to build anything at the bottom of a mountain is a literal “root-pocalypse.” Every time we dug an inch, the mountain dug back with a century’s worth of stubborn roots.

But the transformation is complete, and we’ve officially upgraded to a system that we are pretty content with.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗚𝗔𝗠𝗘 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡 –
Instead of reaching for a bucket of toxic paint or chemical sealants that would eventually flake into our soil, we went old-school.

🪵 Shou Sugi Ban: We used the traditional Japanese art of charring wood to preserve the structure. By carbonizing the surface, the wood becomes naturally resistant to rot, insects, and moisture.
🛢️ The Sealant: We finished it off with Raw Linseed Oil. Boiled linseed oil often contains heavy metal drying agents; by using raw, 100% pure flaxseed oil, we’ve ensured that the only thing leaching into our compost is… well, nothing. It’s completely food-safe and organic.

𝗕𝗨𝗧 𝗪𝗛𝗬?
With all the buzz about fertilizer shortages and the rising costs of synthetic inputs. Here’s why we’re sticking to the organic grind:

➡️ Inflation-Proof Fertility: When you master the art of the pile, you aren’t reliant on a store-bought bag of fertilizer.
➡️ Feeding the Soil, Not Just the Plant: High-quality organic compost builds a microbial “neighborhood” that keeps the soil resilient for years.
➡️ Safety You Can Taste: When you grow your own botanicals and food, the soil is the foundation. Being mindful of the soil health of your garden is just as important as what you plant in it.
