Why couples book me as their wedding officiant:

I'm Nathan. I'm based in Kingsport, Tennessee, and I serve couples across TN, NC, SC, KY, and OH. I write every ceremony from scratch, I show up early, I handle the license paperwork, and I keep things calm when the day gets hectic.

But honestly? Couples tell me they book me because the ceremony finally felt like THEM. That's the whole point.

2026 and 2027 dates are open. Link in bio.

Save this wedding day timeline tip: give your ceremony a 30 minute buffer.

Hair and makeup runs long. Family photos run long. Traffic happens. If your ceremony is the one fixed point of the day, protect it with breathing room on both sides. Your vendors, your photographer, and your stress levels will thank you.

From a wedding officiant who's seen what happens without the buffer. Trust me on this one.

Honest question: big wedding or intimate elopement?

There's no wrong answer. Big weddings are a party with everyone you love. Elopements are the two of you, fully present, zero performance. I've officiated both across Tennessee and the Carolinas and they're beautiful in completely different ways.

Which one are you? Drop it below.

Vow writing tip number three: go unplugged for the ceremony.

Ask your guests to put the phones away. Your photographer will get the shots, and your guests will actually be present for your vows instead of watching through a screen. Every couple I've seen do this says it changed the whole feeling of the ceremony.

One sentence in your program or a quick announcement from me does the trick.

A Mountain Elopement

You don't need 150 guests and a ballroom. Just the two of you, a mountaintop, and vows that actually sound like you. I officiate intimate elopements all across East Tennessee and the Smokies, packages start at $200.

Just need the legal part done? My License Signing is $100.

Quick 20 minute appointment in the Kingsport area. No full ceremony, no fuss, just the official signing handled right. Great for couples who did (or are doing) their own private vows and just need it legal.

Simple, affordable, done. Link in bio to book.

What your wedding officiant actually does behind the scenes:

- Writes your entire ceremony from scratch
- Coordinates with your planner, photographer, and DJ on timing
- Handles the marriage license signing and filing
- Shows up early, mic checks, calms nerves
- Rolls with whatever the day throws at us

The ceremony looks effortless because of the work nobody sees. That's the job.

A Forest Ceremony:

Ever seen a handfasting cord ceremony? This couple braided three cords together during their vows. One for each of them, and one for their new life together. Unity rituals like this are one of my favorite ways to make a ceremony personal.

Would you add something like this to yours?

You don't need a church to have a meaningful wedding ceremony.

Some of the most powerful ceremonies I've officiated happened in backyards, on mountaintops, in barns, and in living rooms. What makes a ceremony meaningful isn't the building, it's the words and the people.

If a traditional venue isn't your thing, that's not a limitation. It's freedom. Let's write something unforgettable wherever you feel most like yourselves.
