When people see maternity photos, they see a baby on the way.
What they don't always see is everything it took to get there.
The injections. The appointments. The waiting. The uncertainty. The tears. The hope. The countless moments spent wondering if this dream would ever become reality.
For this session, we wanted these images to tell more than the story of a growing familyâwe wanted them to tell the story of how this family was made.
Before the progesterone shots even began, Mom endured weeks of fertility medicationsâthree injections a day for two weeksâto help her ovaries produce and mature multiple eggs. In total, she took well over 130 shots throughout this journey.
Those hundreds of moments of courage led to six retrieved eggs.
Six eggs became three embryos.
And those three embryos are represented by the three shadows across her belly.
A quiet reminder of every sacrifice, every appointment, every needle, every prayer, and every ounce of hope that brought them here.
What makes their story even more beautiful is that they didn't choose a gender. Instead, they trusted their embryology team to select the healthiest embryo for transfer. They weren't choosing a boy or a girlâthey were simply hoping for a chance. Hoping for a healthy baby. Hoping for the opportunity to become parents.
As I stood behind my camera, I couldn't stop thinking about how much courage it takes to keep believing when the path to parenthood isn't easy. So many people only see the happy ending, but these two know every chapter that came before it.
And now, after everything they've been through, they're preparing to meet their little boy.
To Mom and Dad: your son is already so loved. Before he ever took his first breath, he was fought for, prayed for, hoped for, and dreamed about.
What an honor it was to help tell this part of your journey.
Some photographs capture a moment.
These photographs capture a miracle. đ
