Finished up a colorful bard costume commission for a renfaire cast client today and I’m so happy to see this all finally come together! If you follow me on Instagram you have probably been seeing my posts about all the embroidery I’ve been doing for this costume lately and this is the final result!!

My fingers are so sore but it was all worth it 🎶

Had one of those little AHA✨ moments trying to figure out what to do about my fabric! Gwynevere has an ornate muted gold trim on some of her outfit and sashes and I could not for the life of me find one locally that was looking right so I settled for the inside of a gold churchy fabric I found at Joann. I was trying to figure out what to do because I was not happy with the difference in color accuracy when it hit me, LAYER THAT S**T!!!

I had 3 yards of a leftover crème/beige lace and when you layer it over the gold Joann fabric, voila it’s the perfect muted gold and the print is even closer now to the source material too with the appliqués!

Which also means I have to completely layer all like 5 yards of this trim i need so I have effectively doubled my work load but IT IS WORTH IT I PROMISE 😤
