Let’s talk about something real for a minute.
We LOVE hosting events at The Social. Like… it’s literally why we exist.
To bring people together. To create memories. To give Sioux Falls something fun to look forward to.
But here’s what most people don’t see behind the scenes:
Events cost money before the doors ever open.
Even if only 10 people show up, we still have hard costs like:
• entertainers
• vendors
• staffing
• marketing
• cleaning
• licenses
• equipment
• supplies
…and so much more.
So when we create an event, we’re not just “hoping” people come. We have a break-even number.
And we also have a “we have to decide by this date” number.
Because the truth is… we can’t wait until the last minute to decide whether an event will happen.
Vendors have to be paid. Staff has to be scheduled. Orders have to be placed.
And if ticket sales are low, sometimes we have no choice but to cancel.
Not because we want to.
Not because we’re flaky.
Not because we don’t care.
Because if we don’t hit the numbers, the event becomes a loss.
And as much as we wish we could take that risk every time… we just can’t.
We’re not trying to get rich. Most of the time we’re simply trying to break even so we can keep creating fun experiences for this community.
So if you ever see an event get canceled, please know:
that decision is never easy, never quick, and never made lightly.
And honestly… the BEST way to support events you want to see in Sioux Falls is simple:

📣 Invite your people.
