We have called his office to no avail. Now his office points to Tom Gann’s post for a statement 🙄 We can’t make this up guys. Apparently they agree 💯 with what Tom has said about this issue. As we prepare to make our voices heard this week, we want to pause, reflect and share some feelings that we’re sure a lot of you are feeling too. If you haven’t voted yet, see you Tuesday. If you haven’t done your homework on issues plaguing the republican runoff for governor, get busy and always check your sources. Plenty of truth out there that’s very accessible. Don’t just buy into what everyone is saying around you. With that said..

We believe in Oklahoma. We believe in good jobs, strong communities, and responsible growth. But we also believe that the people who live, work, and raise their families here deserve a voice in decisions that could affect their land, their businesses, their water, their air, and their future.

This was never about one family or one ranch. It is about all of us. It is about stewardship. It is about the future.

On Tuesday, August 25, Oklahomans have the chance to make their voices heard in the Republican gubernatorial runoff. Every eligible vote is a voice, and the voices of many cannot be ignored.

If you care about the future of Oklahoma, wherever you live: please vote, please pay attention, and please make your voice count.

Because once something is gone, we may not get it back.

Concrete is the last crop.

Part of our crew attended the “Straight Talk” event with Mike Mazzei in Bixby yesterday.

Leading up to the event, attendees were invited to submit questions for Mr. Mazzei to address. Questions had to be submitted by email, which we did.

For the sake of time, we’ve posted just the portion of the video dealing with the smelter. It’s roughly 15 minutes. Unfortunately, our questions were not addressed.

There was another part of the event that we found particularly concerning. During the discussion, the moderator referred to the project as a “smelter,” and several people near the stage immediately corrected her by saying it’s not a smelter.

But here’s the important part: Oklahoma Primary Aluminum (OPA) itself refers to this project as a smelter in its air permit application.

In the comments, is a photo took at the Inola Public Library from the three ring binder supplied by OPA. That binder contains the full air permit application submitted to the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) in February of this year.

The terminology matters.

A smelter and a generic “plant” are not interchangeable terms. And neither are hydrogen fluoride and sodium fluoride. Sodium fluoride is the fluoride compound commonly associated with toothpaste. They are different chemical compounds with very different properties and hazards. You would never brush your teeth with hydrogen fluoride.

It was frustrating to hear people defend the project by correcting the moderator when the project’s own documentation uses the term “smelter.”

So when we hear “Straight Talk,” I think it’s fair to ask for straight answers, and to look at the actual documents for ourselves.

This isn’t about taking someone’s word for it. It’s about reading the permit application, looking at what OPA actually submitted to ODEQ, understanding what is being proposed, and asking questions when the public description doesn’t seem to match the documentation.

Please do your own homework. Do not take anyone’s comments and opinions and claim them as the gospel.

There is far too much at stake for any of us to simply accept someone’s talking points, regardless of which candidate or political party we support.

The facts matter. And Oklahoma deserves straight answers. In fact, we demand them.
