On View at Sonder Gallery: chain reactions by Miela Foster 🖼️
“chain reactions” asks: If a reckoning is coming, would there be signs? What happens before the burst of renewal, as sparks gather and connect? This exhibition reimagines liberation as a story of transformation through active, intentional sparks. Each piece becomes a lens into how these sparks ignite within us, linking Black creative resistance, solidarity, innovation, and radical love. Viewers are invited to reflect on the everyday sparks of change, movement, and renewal that catalyze the chain reaction of revolution.
Miela Foster is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice of visual poetics gives form to the unseen. Her work weaves abstraction, pattern, and texture into layered languages that function like poems. Viewing poetry as an experiment in revealing deeper truths, she explores the interplay between perception and memory, with each piece serving as a portal for reflection and transformation.
She expands her practice through her platform foster the studio, a cultural design house drawing from experimental Black aesthetics. The studio is both sanctuary and laboratory, a place where material, spirit, and story converge. Through garments, objects, curated shows, prints, and ephemera, Miela creates artifacts & experiences that make cultural memory tactile. Her work distills emotion and memory into form, offering new textures for how we see, feel, and imagine.
