Today is the anniversary of the birth of the fabulous Marsha P. Johnson. We celebrate her birthday by honoring her legacy and the role of Trans women of color in the fight for gay rights. Johnson was a prominent figure in the Stonewall uprising of 1969, a founding member of the Gay Liberation Front and the Gay Activists Alliance, and cofounder of the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR). Her contributions to the LGBTQ+ rights movement are widely recognized, and she is deeply treasured as a pioneer and icon.
