Steak dinners are back on the menu this Saturday afternoon starting at 5pm after the market closes. I'll be pan searing ribeye steaks and serving them with a red wine pan sauce and cilantro chimichuri along with creamy mashed potatoes and the last of the winter greens sauteed to order.

I'll be set up in the beautiful oak lined and shady parking lot across from Decant Urban Winery and Great Heights Brewing company at 949 Wakefield Drive. They'll be tables and chairs with seating for two to four. This affair is BYOB, so feel free to smuggle a bottle of wine or whatever beer tickles your fancy from our friends across the street.

The number of dinners available this week will be somewhat limited as this is my first foray back into the fray since the covid shutdown. If all goes well this could become a weekly occurrence. Dinners will be sold at market price and on a first come basis. I think it should be in the neighbourhood of twenty five bucks or less.

Tuesday family meals are back! Beginning this coming week April 19th I'll be offering up my nearly world famous meatloaf dinners. They come paired with every kids favourite mac and cheese casserole along with steamed broccoli. My meatloaf recipe is gluten free (made with rolled oats) and loaded with veggies.

This meal will easily feed four hungry adults or a small family and sells low the low, low cost (in today's economy) of thirty bucks. Pickup is at Great Heights Brewing company beginning at 6pm. Preorders only please, message me here or text me at 832 526-8236.

Do to an overabundance of free range chicken eggs from Farmer Cathy's place and the Easter holiday coming up this Sunday, I'm offering too cook y'all a lovely and tasty quiche. They be two versions available, one with bacon and the other without said bacon. Both will feature sauteed rainbow chard from Cathy's place along with sundried tomato and a mozzarella/provolone cheese blend.

The price is fifteen dollars each and pickup will be at the farmers market this Saturday from 9am until 1pm. I'll also be offering lemon and blueberry mousoline pies for the same price.

Winner, winner chicken dinner! Just because I'm slinging beer and wine at the K-Bar inside the Kroger on 11th street dose not mean I've forsaken my loyal followers.

I'll be cooking a whole herb rubbed roast chicken served with cornbread sage dressing, natural cream gravy and cranberry orange chutney along with steamed sugar snap peas for thirty bucks a throw.

Pickup time is 6pm at Decant Urban Winery this Tuesday evening. I'll also be cooking burgers and meatloaf sandwiches on Wednesday starting at 6pm this week.

Mickey here your not so evil pie pusher (they're tarts really and couldn't think of a rhyming couplet). But I digress, it's time to put in your order for your Holiday festivities pickup is next Thursday December 23rd at Decant Urban Winery starting at 5pm.

I'll be offering pecan, chocolate pecan or apple tarts along with spinach, sundried tomato and goat cheese quiche or spinach, caramelized onion, bacon and blue cheese quiche as well. Also not pictured I've created an icebox pie made with a lemon and blueberry mousoline filling that's all the rage.

Tarts are twenty five bucks each, quiche is twenty dollars and the icebox pies are fifteen each. Order cutoff is Sunday December 19th. Y'all can DM here at Gourmet Familia's page or text me at 832 526-8236.

Greetings fellow Oakies! It's that time of year again to order your Thanksgiving pecan and apple tarts along with quiche and cranberry orange chutney to ease the stress of putting a meal on your Holiday table.

The pecan tart is available in regular or chocolate and the apple tart pictured has an apricot glaze. Quiches come in either spinach, bacon, caramelized onion and goat cheese or blue cheese or spinach, sundried tomato and brie or goat cheese.

The tarts are twenty five bucks each and the quiche is twenty dollars. You can order the cranberry orange chutney by the pint for twelve dollars each.

I may have stumbled on to a new fan favourite to go with the ever popular pan seared burgers served each Wednesday night.

Behold the meatloaf sandwich that has more tangy sauce than the regular version we're all used to. Served on the same brioche bun as the burgers with or without cheese of course along with a bag of Dirtys chips or Fritos for twelve bucks.

Come and get it! Service starts at 6pm each Wednesday at Decant Urban Winery just across the parking lot from Great Heights Brewing company.

As King of my somewhat small fiefdom I have decreed that every Wednesday from now until it cools down again to be burger night.

Come and feast upon a pan seared Angus beef burger served on a toasted brioche bun with two cheeses to choose from along with a bag of Dirtys chips for twelve bucks. The festivities begin around sixish and continue until after dusk.

From time to time I'll throw in a twist or two like meatball subs, shrimp burgers or oyster poboys. So come join me as I celebrate the reopening of our world.

Apologies for the late post. Life is complicated sometimes. However I am cooking burgers this evening at Decant Urban Winery starting at 5pm. Served on a toasted brioche bun with or without cheese along with all the trimmings and a bag of Dirtys chips for twelve bucks. I'll also be offering my take on the legendary Rancor burger as well.

On a side note, after the great success of this past Saturdays bistro night, I'll be repeating that menu again this coming Saturday.

I'm changing things up a bit this week. Tomorrow I'll be serving pan seared Angus beef burgers served on a brioche bun with or without cheese and all the trimmings along with a bag of Dirtys chips for twelve bucks. Y'all can also try my take on the much missed Rancor from the now shuddered Petrol Station.

I'll also be helping out my friends Kyle and Mike of Brisket Houston this evening at my old haunt Sassafraz and bringing along a couple of new items. The first is a baked sweet potato stuffed with pulled pork and dressed up with Mexican crema, shredded cheese and spring onions. The second is a side that could pass as a meal, Mac and real cheese casserole studded with Spanish chorizo.

And finally this Saturday after the market I'll transition over to Bistro night at Decant Urban Winery that will feature Tapas style small shareable plates think country style pate, baked double cream brie with crostini, crab cakes and shrimp pane among others.

What's for dinner this week? First of all starting this Wednesday at 5Pm I'll be setup at the side door of Decant Urban Winery. They have reopened their indoor seating room with plenty of room for social distancing. I'll pan searing burgers served on a toasted brioche bun with two cheeses to choose from and a bag of Dirty's chips for twelve bucks.

I'll also be trying out a few new bistro items, shrimp pane (think crab cakes, but with shrimp) served on a bed of baby arugula dressed with a vinaigrette made with Decant's own balsamic vinegar along with a zesty cocktail sauce. Also on the menu will be my take on beef tartar except I'm searing my version to a rosey medium rare and perching a coddled hasselback egg on top finished a drizzle of chimichuri and Aleppo pepper.

For those folks that need a family size dinner to take home, this week I'll be offering a chicken spinach enchilada casserole along with Spanish rice and barracho beans for twenty five dollars. I'm back offering family dinners again. This week I'll be cooking chicken ballentine, which is a deboned bird stuffed with a bread, spinach and fontina cheese then baked. It will be served with a natural gravy along with steamed veggies and cranberry orange chutney.

Happy Texas Independence Day fellow Oakies. In the spirit of said independence I'm restarting my weekly family meal program and a whole new after market hour pop-up this week.

Starting tomorrow with Enchiladas Mexicana, think cheese enchilada casserole with a red Colorado sauce covered with grilled beef fajitas served with Spanish rice and borracho beans. I'll be offering this meal in family sized dinners for twenty five bucks and a few individual dinners for twelve bucks. The large will feed a small family or four hungry adults and the latter is enough for a very hungry person or two small meals. Pickup begins at 5pm each Wednesday afternoon at Decant urban winery.

On Saturday after the market closes, say around 2pm, I'm opening Mickey's BYOB cafe. This week I'll be cooking pan seared Angus patties served on a brioche bun with cheese and a variety of toppings along with a bag of Dirtys chips for twelve bucks as well. They'll be plenty of socially distanced seating available or you can get it to go.

You're more than welcome to bring beer or wine purchase on the street come have a seat and enjoy what appears to be acceptable weather this weekend.

In light of the continuing covid situation, I've decided to offer a Thanksgiving meal for a smaller gathering ready to cook the day of your celebration.

This meal will include a semi boneless herb rubbed roast chicken stuffed with cornbread sage dressing along with a quart of mashed potatoes, a pint of natural cream gravy, a half pint of cranberry orange chutney and a pound of broccoli florets. It also includes your choice of a apple, pecan or chocolate pecan tart.

I had a last minute cancellation, so there are two meatloaf dinners available for pickup this afternoon. Each includes a generous portion of mac and cheese casserole along with a pound of steamed asparagus. The price is twenty five bucks and will easily feed four hungry adults or a small family.
