Welcome to the little Mexican Fruit Stand we created for the #bubblesandbrides event at #HopeFarms! Icy-cold fruit cups were served topped with housemade raspberry chamoy*, lime and chile salt.

*Chamoy is a popular Mexican condiment for fresh fruit with sweet, salty, spicy and tangy flavors. We predict that this addictive ambrosia will be a trend in the next year or two!

Happy Black Friday, FB Friends!
I want to share some feedback from one of our Thanksgiving events passed along from an event planner partner. See below. THIS IS WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO!

Barbara- I want you to know that I just got off the phone with -Mrs. X- and she said to tell you that it was the best thanksgiving they had in 33 years. She said the food was such a wow! I asked her what was the best and said all of it.
Mr. X said he needs to buy stock in your company.
She also said she loved the staff. And that they were so unobtrusive.
She went on and on and wanted to make sure you knew right away.
Thanks for making it so special for them . Xx

This is what it looks like when lots of moving parts mesh seamlessly!
We were proud to once again cater the annual party for NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association, which took place in Understory Food Hall in the fabulous new Bank of America Building. The 1000 guests enjoyed fine wines by Silver Lining, bites by Culinaire, samplings by Understory food vendors, and the liquid nitrogen ice cream station which we sponsored in conjunction with The Freezing Point.

We draw endless inspiration from the delicious diversity that is the Houston food scene! A ladies' birthday lunch today featured Thai butternut squash bisque followed by Goi Ga, an organic roast chicken salad from Vietnam. Dessert was ombre pink berry cakes by Susie Edward's of Susie's Cakes and Confections, who hails from Argentina.

Our live auction item for the Houston Children's Charity Live Auction just sold for $25,000!!!! The item is a catered dinner for 8 with Houston Rockets Dwight Howard and Chandler Parsons. I think that is a record for one of our auction items!! Hooray for Houston and Houston's children in need!

Costco has fresh chanterelle mushrooms! Came here for something completely unrelated...but I am quite pleasantly surprised. These will be perfect sautéed with an emince' of veal, finished with a touch of white wine and cream and served over crispy potato roesti.

The winner on the "classic" category: Compleat Cuisine's 5-cheese version. We all agreed that it was mac-nificent!

The quest for a truly intense, buttercream-style DARK CHOCOLATE FROSTING ended here! We started with Candace Nelson's recipe and one-upped it. Slowly melt: 1/4 cup butter, 20 oz bittersweet chocolate. In mixer with beater attachment, cream 1lb soft butter, 1 1/2 lbs powdered sugar, 2/3 cup cocoa Barry, dash salt, 1 t vanilla. Blend in 1/2 cup sour cream. By hand, fold in melted and cooled chocolate mixture. You can stop here, but if you wanna put it over the top, bloom another 1/3 cup cocoa Barry with just enough boiling water to make a smooth paste, cool and blend that in, too. Result: a ravishing, fudgy frosting with ganache-like intensity.

Culinaire’s food at the Detroit Institute of Arts is disgusting. I’ve been complaining for over a year; you’re on your third chef. The Culinaire team who works at the DIA uses low quality Gordon Food Service ingredients, skimps on portions, and charges for gourmet quality ingredients. Shame on you Culinaire. Gets your act together and improve the food quality at the DIA.
