Curiosity Brews Interesting talks by fascinating people — at your local bar.

09/24/2026

A room full of strangers walked into a Houston distillery for real conversations, not small talk. A group of people open to new ideas and willing to listen.

This is how a community comes together. This is how new friendships are made. This is the alternative to brain rot.

🍺 Curiosity Brews is looking for speakers.

Think TED Talk meets The Moth, in a neighborhood bar on a weeknight. Not just a lecture about a topic, but the story that makes the topic come alive.

We want both kinds of talk: straight from the headlines, or twenty years down a rabbit hole nobody else has been down. If you can make a room lean in, the topic can be anything.

Artist, academic, adventurer, practitioner, or someone with a gloriously weird niche. If you've got a story or an insight that would stir up real conversation over drinks, we want to hear it.

We're not just looking for academics. We're looking for passion, perspective, and punch.

You know the subject. We'll help you build the hook around it.

🎤 45 minute talk, then 15 minutes of real Q&A
🧠 Real topics, real people
📍 Bars, lounges, distilleries. Never a conference room

DESCRIPTION:

Teachers are drowning in the AI cheating conversation. A researcher says we have been asking the wrong question all along. What is actually happening to your students is harder to see, and more serious.

Your students are not using AI because they want to cheat. They are using it because nobody showed them another way. But the cost of that is not showing up in their grades. It is showing up somewhere else.

What is actually eroding is their confidence in their own thinking. Shelby Terral has been tracking this in real classrooms. And she says most educators are not seeing it until it is already the default.

There is a narrow window to change that. And most schools are not moving fast enough. But educators are not powerless. She will reveal what she found that works at the Curiosity Brews talk on March 31st. Come get the answers your PD never gave you.
