This photo popped up as a reminder of my very first wedding as an event planner back in 2012. I thought it would be cute to wear African attireโ€”boy, was I wrong! My wrapper kept falling, and my headtie wasnโ€™t headtie-ing.๐Ÿ˜‚ I soon realized you canโ€™t be cute when you are running all over the place.

But what has always been most important to me is prayer. I knew this wedding wouldnโ€™t be a success without God, so despite the stares, I asked my client if I could pray.

The name "The UpperRoom" for my business wasnโ€™t chosen because itโ€™s a cute name; it has deep biblical significance for what God has called me to do. Since that first wedding, every event I plan begins and ends with prayer, asking God to be the master planner. No event is perfect, but God perfects every event.

Thereโ€™s a secret not many know: I pray for my clients and their guests. Months before the event and even years afterward, I intercede for everyone who has entrusted me with their celebrations. I ask God to shield them, bless them, and open doors for them. Whether itโ€™s a wedding, a corporate event, or anything in between, if Iโ€™m planning it, you can be sure God is all over it.

It all started back in 2011, during the magical celebration of my mom's 60th birthday.
