There are stars you admire for their talent, and then there are people you admire for who they are. Dolly Parton was one of the very few celebrities we truly looked up to.

Of course, we loved her music, her humor and everything that made her Dolly. But more than any of that, we admired her heart.

She built an extraordinary life and then used what she had been blessed with to help others. She gave back to children, families and communities, never forgetting where she came from or the people she could help along the way.

Giving back has always been part of the bigger dream John and I have for JJ’s. As our little company grows, we are working toward establishing a foundation of our own so that our ability to help others can grow with it.

That dream wasn’t created because of Dolly. But she was certainly an example of the kind of impact we hope success can someday allow us to make.

To me personally, she was one of the only celebrities I ever truly looked up to. Not because she was famous, but because of what she chose to do with it. She had a heart of gold.

If JJ’s can one day make even a small fraction of the difference she made in the lives of others, that will mean more to us than any measure of business success ever could.

Thank you, Dolly, for the music, the laughter and especially the example you left behind. 💗

That’s a legacy worth looking up to.
