🚨🚨FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE🚨🚨
August 20, 2025 | Tonight @7:00pm cst.
The Culture Commission Coalition Demands Justice for Assault on Black Teen in Lowndes County. The Culture Commission Coalition is demanding full accountability following a widely circulated video that shows a white teenage male pointing a handgun at a Black teenage male. The video, which has amassed more than 63,000 views on social media, led to the teen’s arrest on a misdemeanor simple assault charge, according to Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins.
This charge is unacceptable. Pointing a firearm at a child is not “simple assault” — it is an act of intimidation and violence that cannot be minimized. The Coalition stands with the victim and their family, and we call for prosecutors and local authorities to pursue charges that reflect the seriousness of this crime.
The Culture Commission Coalition will host a livestream discussion to bring national attention to this incident, uplift the voice of the victim, and outline next steps in pursuing justice.
Livestream Details:
Date: Thursday, August 21, 2025
Time: 7:00 PM CST

“Our children deserve protection and dignity,” said The Culture Commission Coalition. “This case is about more than one child — it is about a system that too often fails to protect Black youth. We will not rest until justice is served.”

A UNITED APPEAL TO PRECINCT CHAIRS, COMMUNITY LEADERS, CIVIC CLUBS, AND ORGANIZATIONS

SUBJECT: Power to Action: Mobilize Now to Meet Them Where They’re Going

Fellow champions of our communities,

We face a critical moment in our history — the 2025 Texas redistricting is a distraction from the real battle. The GOP’s new maps are engineered to suppress our voice in historically Black and Latino districts, but they're not fooling us. We’re not just safeguarding our ground — we’re taking back the destination.

Our mission: meet the MAGA-Republicans where they’re heading — into Republican-held districts newly within reach — and turn them blue, or at least light pink (because even pink is better than red).

WHAT’S AT STAKE

TX-2: Trump 2020 ~55.6%, Biden ~42.8% — 13-point gap we can overcome.

TX-14: Republican safe seat ~61.6% — but suburban drift and demographic shifts could peel it back.

TX-15: Democratic hold but razor-thin — Trump ~47.6%, Biden ~50.5% — a true swing zone.

TX-22: Slight GOP edge — Trump ~51.5%, Democrats ~44.6% — trending purple.

TX-38: NEW district (created post-2020) with diversity: White 50.1%, Hispanic 25.9%, Black 9.6%, Asian 10.1% — lean Republican but ripe for coalition building.

If we do not mobilize now:

Our legacy communities will be further fractured.

GOP will gain even more seats — entrenching power and suppressing generational voices.

Opportunity lost to reshape the political map with community-born leadership.

CALL TO ACTION

We are launching a central command center to deploy a multi-district infrastructure — organizing across precincts, sharing data, training volunteers, and coordinating Town Halls, canvassing, media, and candidate recruitment.

We need YOU — precinct chairs, faith institutions, civic clubs, community organizations — to join the fight:

Mobilize volunteers for voter registration & early vote awareness.

Host district-specific Town Halls and listening tours to educate and activate voters.

Coordinate messaging, digital outreach, and legal support where needed.

Identify and support electable pro-community candidates in each target district.

Our time is now. We may have been on defense too long — but the future is ours to lead if we act.

Join us. Bring your voice, strength, and vision. Let’s prove that community power — not maps — determines who wins.

Fight with us today — and let’s win tomorrow.

Power to Action!
