A day of inspiration and fabulous artists
Whilst the Astros had their first game on Saturday several other former Astros attended the Joe Niekro Foundation Gala including Larry Dierker and Art Howe with video messages from Phil Garner, Billy Smith, Enos Cabell, Craig Reynolds, we videod some wonderful stories about their friend Joe.
Darren Walker featured this evening on 60 minutes reminding us of the significant conversations we have had the fortune to hear in producing past
luncheons
Darren continuous to provide opportunities and support inequality through the Ford Foundation.
The 2016 Heart of Gold Celebration Honored Vic and Bobbi Samuels with the Alice Graham Baker Award, and featured a conversation with Ford Foundation President Darren Walker.
We spent a few days filming some great stories from former Astros players about their friend Joe Niekro. Joe was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2019 and his legacy lives on through the The Joe Niekro Foundation..
We have had the honor to work with Avenue for the past few years on this fabulous event, raising money through one of the best art auctions in Houston and beyond. Be sure to view the art available and join us as we take this years event virtual, you will not be disappointed and this is such an important organization to support
✨Registration is now open for Art on the Avenue!✨
Visit Art on the Avenue on Handbid to reserve your free ticket and preview some of the artwork up for auction this year.

There are two (free!) ways to participate in Art on the Avenue:
1. REGISTER for the event – online participation only.
2. RESERVE a ticket – online participation and in-person viewing at Winter Street Studios (you will be automatically registered if you choose this option). Choose between “open hours” or “by appointment."
Both options will allow you to bid online through Handbid and view the live stream program!
This event has in past years been underwritten by and held as a dinner and awards ceremony at The Houstonian Hotel, it was important to be able to recognize these top fundraisers and we were happy to be able to set up the live streaming event with GTX Productions.
As some of our clients continue to consider moving some of their events to a virtual platform we all appreciate those sharing industry information, we are in it together and will come out of it together.
I run global events at Microsoft. I was skeptical that large-scale online meetings could work, but here’s what we’ve learned about making them effective.
This statement will certainly influence other similar events in Houston in 2020. We will watch and wait!

Whilst we self isolate I find I have time to explore avenues I would not perhaps have made time for in the past.
Being able to learn and to continue to be inspired by what I see encourages me to always think outside of the box for my clients, inspiration is everywhere, you only have to take the time to find it
One of those avenues is being able to watch and learn from other designers.
I recently watched a travel program about living in Lisbon and then enjoyed this conversation about the Museum of Art, Architecture, and Technology in Lisbon, Portugal. It is now most definitely on my bucket list of places to visit once our borders are open again

This video was produced as part of the BakerRipley annual luncheon messaging and is all the more relevant in these uncommon times.
We continue to work with our non-profit clients closely monitoring, educating and advising as we watch day to day the decisions being made and how they will affect these organizations and their neighbors and clients.
We recently read about a great idea to turn our old conference bags into face masks: Clear out some storage space while helping fight coronavirus. Science shows face masks made of woven cotton aren’t as protective as those made from nonwoven polypropylene—the stuff of reusable conference tote bags. Companies like EB Inc. here in Houston are doing a great job making masks and I am sure could use your bags, I know I have a bunch of them that could be put to good use.
Another opportunty to work with Houston Parks Board on this inaugural event Sights and Sounds
A day on White Oak Bayou with great music and entertainment acts, food trucks and Saint Arnold beer. A perfect day we would say, hope to see you on the trail!
To draw attention to the new green spaces it has developed, the Houston Parks Board and its partners will host a new festival and an art bike parade this spring. As the Board’s Bayou Greenway 2020 projects near completion, Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis has also pledged up to $7.5 million...
