What is Coreguard Creations?

Preface: It is kind of difficult to define exactly what Coreguard Creations is. A part cosplay, a part men’s beard grooming, and even a little bit of T-shirt making. So in a sense, emphasis should be placed more on the latter than the former of the title. Corguard Creations represents the art of creating things. To take an idea from thought or concept and to create it. This is why our motto is “No idea is off limits”. If we can think it, see it in our mind, then we can create it.

My actually journey into this realm began shortly after Halloween in 2017. My wife had spent quite a bit on our children’s costumes and I figured I could build something much better for the same cost. After a couple of weeks of searching various forums, I landed on a HALO video game inspired website page. After reading quite a few forums on techniques, I took the plunge and bought a few basic supplies. The first few attempts were dismal, but I kept trying and each piece that was formed got better.

I had originally named the page “Coreguard Armor & Props, but once I started to master the techniques, I started to realize that in addition to the costumes, anything I wanted to build was only limited by my imagination. That led to building an Adirondack chair out of popsicle sticks and creating a “beach in a bowl” for my mother, to Captain America shields for my wife’s Mardi Gras crew. Since then, I have built a full HALO 3 ODST armor set for myself where I won best in show at a local comic-con, a wearable gingerbread house w/ LED’s for my wife’s float captain, to even helping out people who message me looking for advice or inquiring how I did something.

I continued to take all that I have learned and continue to push myself out of my comfort zone to learn new techniques, try new products, and continue to get better. No idea is ever off limits, it is just figuring out how to get something from concept to reality.
