After publishing the first study of its kind on women’s participation in Latin American music festivals between 2016 and 2018 —a pioneering piece of research that helped push forward Argentina’s Gender Quota Law and sparked conversations around parity in Mexico, Chile, and Uruguay— we return in 2025 with more data, more questions, and new alliances.
In collaboration with and , we present two new studies that expose what remains unseen and unspoken in the Latin American music industry:
1️⃣ Gender gaps and female underrepresentation in music festivals
2️⃣ Women in executive leadership positions in the Latin American music industry
With numbers that aren’t surprising, just disappointing:
⚫️ Only 1 in 5 artists at major festivals are women
⚫️ Only 0.4% of headliners were women
⚫️ Only 2 in 10 leadership roles in the industry are held by women
⚫️ Just 12% of those women make it to CEO or president
⚫️ Non-binary artists barely appear at all
How much has really changed since our last study? And what still needs to happen for the music industry to become more equitable, fair, and sustainable?
