Small businesses, new authors, coaches and speakers prepping to host their first event will find it useful to create a flyer as well as an event specific website to promote their upcoming event.

In some instances, in addition to the above marketing items, develop social media accounts on 3 of the frequently used platforms (facebook, instagram, x) as a way to provide round the clock access to event info, including the program, ways to register, point of contact and more was also a boost.

Barriers I've found to hinder event updates is when the host makes it hard to (1) find the info - when it's buried on the page (2) stay in the loop on their event, (3) thinking just having their info on their company website is enough and wonder why they have low turn out, last minute registrations, no press, increased out-of-pocket expenses and unfortunately cancelled events. Some of those disappointments are caused by the lack of content, details, activities, program participants info and other event related strategies as exciting event details emerge.

If the behind-the-scenes gets overwhelming, it's usually due to the solo-act, failure to recruit a team, lack of resources, not referencing previous knowledge, unnecessarily reinventing the wheel, thinking everything has to be done from scratch.
