In the fall of 1975, a young teacher and coach named Don Kreuser walked into Hartford Union High School with a passion for wrestling and a vision for building something special. Fifty years later, his impact is still felt in our school, our community, and across the state of Wisconsin.

Beyond the wins and accolades, Coach Kreuser was a builder of young men and community. He always credited Hartfordโs success to the countless athletes and assistant coaches who poured their hearts into the program alongside him. His humility, leadership, and dedication extended far beyond Hartford as well, serving in nearly every capacity of the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association and playing a pivotal role in establishing the beloved State Team Tournament.
Coach Kreuser was honored as Wisconsin Wrestling Man of the Year in 1990 and inducted into the George Martin Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1999, recognitions such as these speak to the respect he earned statewide.
50 years later since his arrival in Hartford, we pause to say thank you, Coach Kreuser. Thank you for your vision, your passion, and your decades of dedication to Hartford Wrestling, our athletes, and our community. Your legacy is etched into the fabric of HUHS and Wisconsin wrestling forever.
