Let’s honor them🥰

✨ Today on Labor Day, I want to take a moment to honor the historic efforts of Black workers who fought for dignity, opportunity, and equality in the labor movement.

When African Americans were excluded from white labor organizations, Black workers built their own all-Black unions that stood up for both class and racial justice. As early as 1869, Isaac Myers, a ship caulker in Baltimore, founded the Colored National Labor Union to bring Black workers together and create a voice for change.

Years later, A. Philip Randolph led the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters — the largest all-Black labor union in the U.S. — and made history as the first African American–led union to be recognized by the American Federation of Labor in 1925.

These trailblazers remind us that the freedoms and protections many of us enjoy today came from the courage of those who refused to be left out. On this Labor Day, let’s honor their sacrifices, celebrate their victories, and continue their legacy of standing strong together. 🤎

This weekend has been PHENOMENAL!! The highlight being The 5th Annual Bridgeport Jazz Festival 🥰🎶🌟
Bridgeport and surrounding cities showed up & showed out!! I’m still in awe of the entire day!! Then for David Daniels to announce 📣 that we will be at Seaside Park for 2026…🤩🙏🏽🙌🏽
And we have funds leftover for 2026…🙏🏽🙌🏽🥰
BLESSINGS 🙏🏽
It will only get better and bigger from here on out!!🌟🎶
