Well now, dear ones — I've got a little thread magic brewing for you.

Soon we'll be twisting up tassel poppets together, the old way — the way my granny taught me. Each one gets a wish tucked right inside before the final knot pulls tight. The color yarn you choose matters more than you'd think... yours will tell on you.

And mind my one rule: never knot a poppet in anger. A wish tied in a temper always comes back crooked.

A LETTER FROM GRANNY BRAMBLEWOOD

Come closer, dear. Granny has opened her travelling ledger, and she is looking for the first twenty souls willing to follow the path into Shadowbark Valley.

This October, ShadowBark Post will begin sending letters beyond the woods: cozy tales, seasonal folklore, gentle reflections, hearth workings, and small pieces of valley magic delivered right to your mailbox.

Each month, members receive:

Two physical letters from Granny Bramblewood

One letter will be mailed during the week of the 1st, and another during the week of the 15th.

One monthly trinket

A small keepsake, artifact, cozy extra, or companion enchantment will be tucked into one of your two monthly envelopes.

The regular membership rate is $18 per month.

✨ But the first 20 founding members of ShadowBark Post will pay only $15 per month for as long as their subscription remains active. ✨

And there is a little early magic for those who arrive before the autumn door closes:

Granny Bramblewood leads the way beyond the rocky ridge, her boots crunching softly over pine needles as the path slopes toward the northernmost edge of the map. She pauses beside a massive, moss-draped trunk and motions for you to catch up.

“If you’ve got the stamina for the outer reaches, keep your boots close to mine. We’re taking the red trail—the Cedar Mist Miles—all the way to where the map runs out of names.

“Look around you now. The light changes entirely out here in the Deep Woods. Hemlocks and ancient cedars grow so densely overhead that they catch the daylight before it reaches the forest floor, leaving everything bathed in a perpetual, hushed twilight. You can feel the age in the timber; these trees do not merely stand—they watch.

“And at the northern border, where solid ground finally gives way, lies Cedar Mist Swamp. Take care on these mossy tussocks. Deep, black water runs beneath them, holding every secret and fallen leaf from centuries past. It is quiet here, save for the occasional splash of a diving heron or the low croak of a bullfrog.

“This is the edge of the valley, traveler. Beyond this black water, the wild woods stretch north without end. Coming this far teaches you to respect a boundary—and to appreciate the warmth of a hearth fire waiting back home.”

Some stories held in black water are too heavy to tell aloud on the trail. They must be written carefully on thick parchment and sealed tight. The first letters will begin their journey to your postbox during the first week of October, carrying deeper, shadowed tales as the autumn nights lengthen.

When you look across a dark, mist-covered stretch of swamp water, does it feel like a mystery calling you to explore—or a place best admired from a safe distance? �
