Special moments from Beth + Gabe’s small intimate wedding 🕊️

First of all, it was so special to capture their wedding since Beth and I are co-workers at the bank! These two focused on what truly meant the most to them. Having their closest family members around to witness their love + commitment for one another.

Beth wore her moms wedding dress, they got married in their church out in holland, had thirteen family members around and had a lunch all together at a local restaurant to share memories, jokes, and well wishes 💓

These two are getting married next year and I can not wait to capture their day! They are living in Chicago and drove up to Grand Rapids for their engagement shoot! I am so happy with how the weather turned out - considering we had snow a week ago! They were so fun and so easy to work with! You’ll definitely be seeing more of these on my page soon! 🥰💌

Morning weddings may be my new fav 🤫
This sweet couple chose to get married in the morning and wrapped up their wedding day around 1pm!
By doing this, they were able to be together all day long. Isn’t that how it should be? You spend all this time planning your day that is for you and your spouse - yet you spend less than half the day with them.

I know morning weddings aren’t for everyone but here are some tips for making the most of your wedding day:

+ spend some time in the morning together. Have breakfast, coffee, time in Gods word, or simply just time reflecting on your relationship and reminiscing on all the memories leading up to this moment.
+ Get ready together. Who says you can’t get ready with your soon to be wife/husband? How sweet would it be to have that moment of helping your husband get his suit jacket on or him helping you put on your necklace?
+ Do a first look immediately following getting ready so you don’t have to hide away for most of the day. Remind you that this is your day and that whenever your spouse sees you, it’ll be special. Another take on first look .. If you want that sweet first look to be the moment you walk down the isle, do your first look at your ceremony spot. This would make for the sweetest moment but with out the distractions of others and without the nerves of the ceremony.
I don’t know how many times I’ve heard brides say that they feel so much better after seeing their spouse. Again, I totally respect the thought of no first look but I am a big fan of the bride and groom spending as much time as possible TOGETHER.
+ Get most photos done before the ceremony so you can spend alone time following the ceremony and also make the most of cocktail hour and the reception!
+ Bride and groom portraits! Make sure you have enough time for just the two of you. You don’t want to rush some of the most important photos.
+ schedule time in the timeline for time with just your spouse! Whether it’s 5 mins or 15 mins but take time to take it in with your now HUSBAND OR WIFE! Go for a walk, grab a snack and drink or simply go to a quite room and share your favorite moments from the day so far .. just do it!
+ Don’t leave each others side. People will pull you every which way but try to stick together!

🫶🏻with all that being said, your wedding day will go by in a blink of an eye so do what makes YOU happy!

If you haven’t already, consider sneaking away for 15 minutes during your reception to take sunset photos! With this in mind..
* make sure you know when the sun sets
* work with your photographer on time line so you can plan for it ( pt.2 coming on timeline)
* lastly we know you wanna party with your people and we want you to too BUT I can tell you as a past bride myself …You won’t regret sneaking away for these. (You get special one on one time with your significant other + you get the best photos)🤍

This past weekend was our last weekend of weddings till next year! Oh how crazy this season has been. Lots of learning, growing to be better each and everyday. I am so thankful for all the couples that let me be a part of their day and let us capture their love 🫶🏻 we appreciate each and every one of you!
This year I helped out with photo for 11 weddings + we had 4 weddings of our own for video. We have been so blessed and I truly wouldn’t have wanted to spend summer any other way. Tbh I’ll miss spending Saturdays with couples on the best day of their lives. So if you are still looking for a wedding photographer or videographer for 2023, message us ☺️

Hello + Welcome friends!
Thanks for stopping by - we thought we would re-introduce ourselves since it’s been a while and there are many new faces around!
We are Brooke and Shamus Oatis 👋🏻
We’ve been married for a little over two years now and started our biz shortly after getting married. We are 24 + 25 and love to travel. During our first two years of marriage we have been to California, Utah(x2), Georgia, Mexico, and took our first road trip together from Michigan to Hilton Head, South Carolina!
We both work a 9-5 job right now while running our biz. Shamus is a partner success manager for a local IT company and I am a relationship banker at a local bank! We absolutely love our jobs but equally love photographing and capturing our couples! 🤍
Other fun facts about us:
+ we dated for eleven months and were engaged for ten months
+ one year ago we adopted our fur baby Loki 🐈
+ we want to move out west - love Michigan but hate the winters
+ we hope to have a few kiddos in the future
+ we love being outdoors (hiking, camping, swimming, playing pickle ball and disc golf)
+ our fav shows currently are love island uk and bachelor in paradise (cheering on + ..also hoping finds the one)
+ this was our first summer of weddings thanks to the amazing couples that gave us the opportunity to capturing their big day - also a big thank you to , , and for letting me come along side them learning and helping capture the love of their clients. Second shooting this summer will be one for the books! It was busy but so rewarding. 🫶🏻
