As someone said recently, if you think you understand all about Brexit, you clearly haven't been paying attention.

Broken toe/boot cast + comfy chair at Bethany Beach = ambitious fair isle cardigan project. Unlikely to finish in 2019, unless the toe fails to heal😊 #fairisleknitting #steekingforfun
Unexpected finds in the garden as I eagerly (VERY eagerly) clear out in anticipation of spring: beautiful fungus on an old stump, the first signs of celandine poppies, hellebores almost ready to pop...and...whatever the heck this is! Frog with wings, hands over eyes? Go figure ...
Black Sheep Yarn Shop will be at Blue Mountain Retreat Center, Knoxville MD. April 5-7 for a Spring Retreat! We'll be knitting Amy van de Laar's Beeswax Cowl (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/beeswax-cowl). Details and a registration request form here (https://www.sawmillcreekfiberevents.com/black-sheep-retreat).
Steeking today! Ann Weaver is taking us through the steps and we are having a ball. Cutting our knitting has never been so much fun. #weaverknits #steekingforfun
Still thinking about Ireland in the spring? This is the Last Call for registering for our Fiber Tour of Ireland, April 23-May 4, 2019. There are spots available, just send a note and we'll tell you how to get signed on. (There are some terrific low airfares out there now, too - don't miss this chance to see the beauty of Ireland at the very best time of year!)
There is still a space available for the Weekend Steeking Workshop with Ann Weaver at Zigbone Farm Retreat (about half an hour north of the City of Frederick, MD) this weekend (March 8-10). If you are interested, send a message and I'll get back to you with the details. NO KNITTING "HOMEWORK" IS REQUIRED for this workshop - you'll be learning on thrift shop finds (and one is included in the price of the weekend!)
Our visit to #eweandmeyork was fabulous! Lovely shop, friendly people and a terrific selection of yarn. Picked up enough #thefibrecompany Cumbria for a sweater! Looking forward to the next visit. #thefibrecompanycumbria #yarnshopswelove #PAyarnshop
Had a little Road Trip today with the gals up to York, PA to check out the...well, you know, the YARN SHOPS (what else?). Our first stop was at #ritamaeyarns where I picked up these beauties. Thanks, Cortni - can't wait to see what's next for you and the shop!
We'll be steeking all weekend with @weaverknits (March 8-10) at this amazing farm in northern Frederick county. There are still a few spots available! Send a message or see the web site www.sawmillcreekfiberevents.com

If you have ever knit a sweater you love, only to find the button band too flimsy to support the amazing buttons you found for it, you'll need to know how to do this!
Why Reinforce A Button Band? Both of my recent pattern releases, Lady Heartrose and Prairie Wife , suggest that you use ribbon to reinforce the button bands. If you're one of those knitters who hates finishing, you may think why bother? You certainly don't have to, most of my sweaters
We couldn't agree more, she's "a knitting hero for the ages." And an incredible woman.
We named So, I make stuff’s shawl after #SojournerTruth, the abolitionist and suffragist, and one-time resident of our winter issue guest editor @norahgaughan’s home town. After winning an epic legal battle for custody of her own child, former slave Sojourner became a passionate speaker on civil rights and women’s rights with the express aspiration of fostering hope and resilience among the oppressed. She was also photographed knitting and wearing triangular shawls, making her a knitting hero for the ages.
Swipe to see a photo of Sjourner's knitting in action. And for bonus diverse historical images of people knitting from around the world, check out @heartbunknitsandmore's profile, where she has been sharing some gems!

Looking for a fun and practical "quick knit"? This slipper took less than 6 hours of knitting (ALL garter stitch!) and some clever folding and sewing up. Yarn choice: the humble but sturdy Red Heart Super Saver. Got to practice weaving in ends as I go, joining colors, seaming knits, and visualizing spatial relationships. Not bad for just a slipper...
Have you got a thrift shop wool sweater - and an itch to cut it? Or maybe you'd like this 6 buck pullover to look like a million? Join @weaverknits @zigbonefarmretreat March 8-10 for All Rewards, No Risk Steeking workshop. www.sawmillcreekfiberevents.com/zigbone-farm-retreat. #steekingworkshop #weekendretreat #knittingretreatmaryland
Finishing up a wonderful retreat with my knit group. Cast on my glove on Friday, started the fingers on Saturday, cast off and wove in ends today. All while enjoying good food, good friends and a snowy landscape. Can't wait till next year! #knittingretreat @ Blue Mountain Retreat Center
Join Casapinka on the Schooner J&E Riggin for a Maine Knitting Cruise, September 16 - 19, 2019. We'll sail Penobscot Bay, knit a little, have fun and eat some great food (ok, maybe a LOT of great food!). Registration details available at https://www.sawmillcreekfiberevents.com/maine-registration-september. #casapinkamainecruise #athomeatsea #maineknut #casapinka
This may be the solution for saving vs. throwing out the yarn labels. When I lived in Vienna, we drank lots of GREAT beer - but I really couldn't save bottles to bring home. I soaked off the labels and applied them to cardboard boxes - easy souvenir and the boxes hold lots of knitting stuff. I might try this with the yarn labels. #niftysolution #yarnlabelhoarding
Do you, or don't you? - save yarn labels, that is. I am pretty sure I have saved every one I have ever used. Why? hmmmm...because I can? because I'm crazy? if you do, too, do you know why?
I don't normally post many photos of UFOs (they always look so messy!) but this "Tabouli" cardigan (by #carolfeller) is coming along so nicely I couldn't resist. The best part? Using fabulous, wonderful, soft, lovely #wanderingwool Shenandoah sport weight superwash merino in Emerald. It's going to be perfect for Ireland!
Don't miss our ONLY Weekend Workshop in 2019 with Renate Maile-Moskowitz, expert Felter!
I had the pleasure to meet Renate Maile-Moskowitz, fiber expert and extraordinary felter and see some of her art. She will be our guest Instructor for our October 4-6 Retreat at #bluemountainretreatcenter. Details coming soon! #feltingworkshop #renatemailemoskowitz #weekendfiberretreat
If you're knitting with wool right now, good choice!
Oh, if ONLY my local forecast came in this form!

Savannah is quirky, beautiful, BIG. Great food, nice people - we are having a great time in the South! Add a few good yarn shops, and I'd be set! @ Savannah, Georgia
Our room in Savannah is so nice...and we hit our first LYS just after checking in. #thefrayedknotshop

Just enjoying everything this lovely city has to offer - maybe the yarn shop here should be mine😉
Perfect weather today - sunny and warm, with a bit of history and southern charm in the forecast. Charleston is very appealing when it's 70 degrees in January. #charleston
We are headed to Ireland April 24 - there's still room for you to join us!

#Magnolia Plantation was exquisite! Charleston is beautiful and very interesting! But...need to squeeze in some knitting 😊
Charleston is definitely charming - and full of artistic inspiration. Love the interplay of nature and architecture. The only flaw - no LYS! @ Charleston Historic District
This is something I have been working on (slowly!) for the last year or so. I love the idea of streamlining my wardrobe, and wearing more of what I knit - and knitting what I love to wear! Hope you enjoy reading this and feel inspired, too!
As a new year draws near, here are 5 new year's resolution ideas that will help you to knit a more wearable wardrobe. Which one will you choose?
2018 was a great year for Sawmill Creek Fiber Events! We had lots of fun, made new friends, and learned a few things, too! Thanks to everyone who made it so enjoyable. Looking forward to seeing you next year 😊
Lovely day yesterday seeing the #johnwaters exhibit at the BMA. Topped off with a drink at Gertrude's, the fabulous cafe/restaurant right in the museum. It's so much fun to be back in Charm City!
I love this: "Yarn isn’t one, static thing. It’s a wonderland of possibility that allows you to act on a creative impulse." lovely article (and I feel better now!)
I am (and always have been) a minimalist at heart when it comes to everything but cookbooks and knitting supplies. For whatever reason, I just can’t seem to cut back in those two areas. I use…
Not only beautiful, it's an incredible example of what a cooperative effort will produce.
Incredible crocheted Christmas tree in the main piazza of Trivento, Italy! Six meters high and made with 1,300 squares, amazing!! 🎄🎄🎄 (photo from Italian news site www.cblive.it)

Maybe someone could put a little vicuna yarn in my stocking this year...just sayin', Santa!
The once-endangered vicuna is thriving in the Peru, thanks to a bold plan to sustainably gather and sell its valuable golden fleece. Video by Tom Garmeson.
This is the very best Advent Calendar I have ever seen. Best wishes to everyone for a wonderful holiday season (and you're bound to have one if you follow the calendar's advice!)
We started the Advent if Kindness yesterday. I adore this idea. I want my kids to know that the holidays are about GIVING not getting.
2019 will be here before you know it!
LEARN, RELAX...HAVE FUN It's winter holiday time again...and we know the dilemma. This year, why not treat a very special someone to a trip, retre...
