Garner Optimist Club The Optimist Club of Garner is a non-profit civic organization whose primary purpose is serving the y Many have found inspiration in The Optimist Creed.

In hospitals, the creed has been used to help patients recover from illness. In locker rooms, coaches have used it to motivate their players. Optimist International adopted this creed in 1922. It was originally published in 1912 in a book, “Your Forces and How to Use Them.” The author was Christian D. Larson, a prolific writer and lecturer who believed that people have tremendous latent powers, which could be harnessed for success with the proper attitude.

Santa will be at the Optimist Club today around 4 or 4:30 until 7:30. First run of this so we are doing pictures, take your own or we take them and put them on CD (if our camera setup works correctly) for donations, today only. Come out and help us get this new fund raiser going. :)

The Garner Optimist Club hosted members of the Garner Police Department last night for a Respect for Law banquet. For many years, the Optimist Club has hosted this banquet during National Police Week, as a way of saying thank you to the men and women who work daily to keep Town of Garner, NC Government and it's citizens safe.

Councilmember Phil Matthews read a proclamation signed by Mayor Ken Marshburn that declares that all citizens and organizations in Garner should observe the week of May 15-21, 2022 as National Police Week.

During the banquet Chief Smith was able to honor the “Rob Apple Officer of the Year” for 2022 - Police Officer Patrick Lee. Officer Lee has been with the department for almost six years. He has spent those six years on patrol as an officer, a field training officer, a drug recognition expert, and is passionate about keeping the streets of Garner safe by looking for those who are driving while impaired.
