I never post things like this but this family is extraordinary. The Mother, Jessica, has a Master’s degree and unfortunately had to stop working in her field due to injury. The place they are in now has mold to the point her son’s lungs collapsed and he spent time in the hospital. All they want is a chance for their children to have a better life, go to better schools, be able to go outside and play, knowing they are safe. Please help if you can. Help the Mason Family Find Safe Housing
My name is Sydney Rock, and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Isaac and Jessica Mason and their four children.
My connection to the Mason family is personal. I have lived with the Mason family and have provided caregiving and personal support within their household. I have personally witnessed the challenges this family has been facing, which is why I felt led to create this fundraiser and help them during this difficult time.
For nearly five years, the Masons called their Washington, D.C. house home. Unfortunately, serious mold contamination has made the home uninhabitable, and the property has been condemned by the D.C. Department of Buildings. The family is now facing an urgent need to find a safe place where they can live together again.
This situation has disrupted nearly every part of their lives. Jessica is disabled and requires daily support, while Isaac has had to step away from work to help care for Jessica and their children. During this difficult period, the family has also experienced respiratory illnesses, interruptions to the children's schooling, and the painful reality of not being able to live together normally under one roof.
Then, as they were already trying to navigate this housing crisis, their vehicle experienced a serious transmission failure and broke down, leaving the family without reliable transportation and creating another unexpected financial burden.
Even through all of this, Isaac and Jessica have continued doing everything they can to keep their family together and move forward.
There is finally a path toward a fresh start.
The Mason family has a federal Housing Choice Voucher and has found a home in Virginia that could provide the safe and stable environment their family desperately needs. Their immediate challenge is coming up with the $5,000 needed for the security deposit and necessary initial move-in expenses.
