Spring equinox tradition: posting my favorite photo of my poppies captured by . I love seeing the progression of watching these pretties transform from a hairy lil pod to a tissue paper fairytale flower. I’ve been working on trying to get seed / starts earlier and earlier so we can have these guys for more than just a couple weeks. Hoping that just maybe, 2026 will be the year when I grow a lot of really good poppies 😂 and you’ll know when it happens because I’ll shout it from the rooftops after trying for 5 years! 🥲

More details from C&A’s beautiful day in late spring. The honeysuckle, jasmine, and sweet pea filled this vineyard-side tent with the most beautiful fragrance that I hope will stay with them each time they look back on photos. This 250 person wedding was designed with 100% local flowers, and sourcing was so fun to pick up from my favorite growers and friends. All captured by the talented at

As I’m planning out the rose and hydrangea garden, I’m really excited to also have a better planting site for my spirea and lilac obsession. Two plants that don’t always love our zone, but once established seem to do just fine! Dappled shade and cool, well watered roots seem to be the key for my existing lilac tree and spirea. Zone 9b folks, what lilacs do I need to add to my collection? 🤍 🌱

A little birdy in San Diego told me her butterfly ranunculus are starting to bloom, which usually means ours here in Fresno are just a few weeks behind! Ariadne is the first variety I grew that set off my obsession. This year I’ll have lots of Ariadne (blush), Musa (rusty coral), thiva (silvery mauve), graces (pale yellow), Eris (peachy coral), and Moderna 806 (light peach). The lunar blue sweet peas will be close behind (second photo). All of my ranunculus are available for purchase through and our season opens up March 5th! Florists, if you have an event coming up, dm me and I’ll send you our advanced ordering form. And flower lovers, you’ll be able to preorder each week via our shop (dm me if you need help navigating!) and/or find us on Wednesdays at for Wednesday Flower Club 9-11 again! And psst subscribers..if you ever see anything I’m growing and just have to have it in your subscription, I’m happy to make sure it finds its way to your vase 🥰

Some misty, moody filmy snaps from a foggy day in spring. I am growing elegance Bianco Striato ranunculus again, I just love how she brings a little bit of depth and edge to whatever palette she’s paired with. 🖤 hoping to have all the colors of pansies to add to this year’s March arrangements too 🥰 I’ll be opening floral arrangement memberships again soon and offering a gift to the first 5 signups - dm me to be added to the notification email list!

Elopements in Yosemite are quickly becoming one of my favorite bouquets requests 🤎 The magic that .battles created for this shoot (in some serious weather — rainbow included!) was just so special. Earthy tones (mocha mousse adjacent shall we say 😆) and fall in the mountains will always be a good idea in my book.

The ranunculus has almost all woken up from their dormancy and I just can’t wait for views like this again in a few months. This variety is Cafe, and while I’m not growing her this spring, I have a few varieties that i hope will have these rich, warm tones but on a taller more productive plant. I’m trying out half clone tango, doubling down on sfumato, and a few juicy Romance varieties 🧡 Photo from the talented during one of her trips to the field 📷

Mauvey bits form the garden in a just for fun arrangement in the studio with .case.photography 🤍 It was a chilly one this morning..lots of frost! I was talking to a grower last night about our climate here in Fresno and thought I’d share in case we have any fellow 9b’ers out there or someone else who is curious about our growing conditions: overall we have a dry, Mediterranean climate with some rain in the winter but not much. Our temperature swings are extreme, but we rarely did below 40 at night. That being said, the micro climate situation over here is wild. I have one row in my field that gets frost damage, but the row next to it is always fine 🤪 and my own backyard almost never has frost, even though it’s 4 miles from my field. We also have pockets of our county where fog will linger until 10-11am in the morning (I grew up with Foggy Day Schedule at school, instead of Snow Days!) It’s called Tule Fog and usually happens after a big rain. Today we’ll have a high of 60, and our lows will drop back into a more normal 45-55 degree range. I rarely need to cover anything for frost, but I do sometimes put plastic over certain things to try and get my season started earlier (ranunculus, anemones). By March we will swing from 60 degree days to 80s at times, and it’s just a matter of time before we hit 80-90 in April that pops ALL our ranunculus open and causes mass panic amongst us growers 🤣 The ranunculus fade away by May, and we can actually get some early summer flowers around that time if we kept them warm enough in seedling stage. Any other climate notes I’m missing? 🤔

A moment for this autumn harvest inspired install. Texture, layers, and seasonal ingredients always 🍂 Sedum, amaranth, pomegranate, and Japanese maple all tend to come into season around the same time here in Zone 9b.

My two favorite daffs: British Gamble and Ice Follies. Both open up more saturated and fade to the lightest watercolor tones in the vase. Early bloomers in my Zone 9b and have the most delicate, lovely scent. This spring I sort of hoarded them to myself, but I think I ordered enough for 2025 that they’ll be making their way onto my availability list 😉

Ok real talk: who is growing pansies this winter? Last year I had all of the plans/goals/ambitions after being super inspired by , and totally failed to start seed in time. I had two varieties including this beautiful periwinkle blue pansy, but didn’t come close to what I’d planned. This year I’m on it, aka I ordered specialty plugs from 😆 and I CANNOT WAIT! Anyone else on the magical pansy journey?
