Evolution from flower harvest to your special day—I take every step, starting from soil health and sustainable practices to making sure that every time you see these seasonal flower bloom in years to come, you are reminded of those important moments.

Thank you to Wildly Yours Photography for sharing these stunning photos from Lake Bluff Preserve (truly one of the most special spots in NoMi) for Kallyn & David’s wedding. I am grateful for everyone who trusts me with their celebrations and memories.

It’s been QUITE a week, but water finally flowing again here at the farm. The flowershed will be closed next week for a little regroup, open again next weekend, beginning 10/11.

Feeling very stressful here with the well going out and not being able to locate the buried well head to even begin to address the problem. This lady decided to tell me to take deep breaths.

Update: Berg has been out working for the last couple days and just found a well-hidden buried well head. Hope to be flowing again soon!
Well pump is out, after planting 1000s of seedlings for next season. Can anyone recommend a solid business to help us get water running again? (I also desperately need a shower.)

Maintenance day today, deadheading and planting. Why composting so many blooms? Because I have spent over a decade learning the prime moments to harvest each crop I grow. If they are too open, even if they are beautiful, they aren’t going in a vase for you, because I aim for the longest vase life *for each individual variety.* Yes, some supremely exquisite flowers you can only get locally only last so long (looking at you peonies and dahlias), and they are totally worth it over grocery store flowers that last two weeks but kinda make you hate them (maybe that’s just me). But I take cutting at the peak moment for your best experience very seriously. I have spent years researching each crop harvest time and conditioning. Yes, I am still learning about this. I grow a lot of different varieties of a lot of different crops, but you aren’t going to get blown-open sunflowers or tulips dropping petals here. This is my craft. It is my profession — not anything I take lightly in any way. I aim to be proud of my product and for you to enjoy your blooms to the maximum.

Soft vintage vibe melts my heart every time, as do September weddings up north. 🤎 For Kallyn & David

The new pucchino choco lisianthus plants offered by farmerbaileyplugs are absolutely my favorite new thing I grew this year. You know what that means?! More next year!

What’s that, you say? You want some extra special flowers?

My morning garden ramble mindfulness handfuls have been overflowing with abundance. Contemplating putting out a bucket of loose dahlia stems so that you can pick and choose whichever you would like at the end of this week (Maybe Thursday-Saturday?) Would you be interested in coming to an informal “stem bar” to DIY your own bouquets? Comment below!
