I’ve been thinking about the perfect caption for these photos, but couldn’t seem to find it. Nobody reads the captions anyway though, right? 😘

When I thought about why nothing could capture what I wanted to say, I realized it’s because these aren’t just a few photos. This is me. This is the city I rep. This is the real beauty that exists here. This is me romanticizing life, celebrating every little moment, and showcasing the places and people that make this community so special.

In November of 2024, I was just looking for somewhere to dance, and I found social dancing. I found salsa. I found my people. And I realized there was something beautiful here that needed to be seen.

The Spicy Socialite is not just about dancing. It’s about discovering your city, connecting through music, finding your people, and embracing the life that’s waiting for you when you say yes to new experiences.

Our community is everything. And these pictures? Well…

This is me. This is The Spicy Socialite💋

I can’t thank Bruna Peterson | Brand Photography enough for the collab, and for capturing what words couldn’t say so perfectly. More to come. ♥️

A letter to all my street dancers,

My name is Laurelle, and I’m a street dancer turned salsera. Everything I learned was outside a classroom. I found the social dance community in November 2024 and recently started The Spicy Socialite to provide a space to showcase our teachers and dancers.

A quick backstory: I always wanted to be a ballerina, but we couldn’t afford classes. My grandmother, also a street dancer, would dance bachata with me when I was young (RIP 🕊️). Everything else I learned came from music videos. ’90s hip-hop and R&B shaped my style, so ballet took a backseat. From Jersey Shore clubs to Zumba, and now social dancing, my classroom experience was nonexistent.

I’m here to tell you that you can learn social dancing in other ways. For me, I learned by doing, putting myself out there, and being honest with my leads that I was still learning. It really does take a village, and I give so much credit to my amazing SWFL community. I always dreamed of being a ballerina, and now I can say I’m a Bailarina 💃🏻

I’m not saying don’t take classes. You absolutely should if you can. The people who taught me are insanely talented teachers and their students, and I’m so grateful for their knowledge and patience. By now, I’ve taken a few classes, and they are so powerful. The Spicy Socialite is my way of showing gratitude for the community that gave me so much.

If your dream is to be a dancer, and lessons are not an option, I need you to know that you can still make it happen. Go to that social or event, even if you don’t know anyone. That’s exactly how my journey started, and now I have this incredible dance family. If you don’t know where to start, you’ve come to the right place.

See you on the dance floor!

Much Love,
The Spicy Socialite💋
