**PART 2 💜🎂 — STILL HERE. STILL BLESSED.**
Okay y'all… you asked for it. 😭💜
When her daughter looked at me and said,
**“There's something my mom never told you…”**
I honestly didn't know what she was about to say.
I looked back down at the letter.
And suddenly…
I remembered her mother.
But when I remembered her, I didn't remember her walking into the cake studio I have today.
Because back then…
**THERE WAS NO CAKE STUDIO.**
I was baking cakes right out of my **HOME KITCHEN.**
I didn't have a huge following.
I didn't have customers constantly calling and messaging me.
I didn't have a calendar filled with orders.
Truthfully, I didn't have a whole lot of people who even knew who I was as a baker.
So back then…
**EVERY. SINGLE. ORDER. MATTERED.**
And not simply because I was trying to build a business.
At the time, I was also working as a **waitress.**
I didn't have much money.
And I was a **single mother trying to take care of my daughter.**
So when somebody trusted me enough to order a cake from my little home-based business, that money wasn't just “cake money.”
Sometimes a cake helped me buy groceries.
Sometimes it helped with a bill.
Sometimes it put gas in my car.
Sometimes it helped me get something my daughter needed.
Every order was helping me build a dream…
while also helping me take care of my child.
That's why, even today, I've never looked at the people who support my business as **“just customers.”**
Y'all became family. 💜
Because some of you were helping me survive a season of MY life…
**without ever knowing it.**
And apparently…
I had been doing the same thing for someone else.
Her daughter looked at me.
Then she said:
**“That little girl you made that cake for all those years ago… was me.”**
I covered my mouth.
She continued.
At the time her mother placed that order, **she was struggling too.**
Money was tight.
She was going through one of the hardest periods of her life, and she desperately wanted her little girl to have a birthday cake.
When she came to my home to pick it up, I could tell something was bothering her.
She kept looking at the cake and wiping her eyes.
Finally she said:
**“I wasn't sure I was going to be able to give my baby a birthday this year.”**
And y'all…
I understood.
Maybe I didn't know everything she was going through.
But I knew what it felt like to be a mother trying to make something happen for your child when you didn't have much yourself.
So before she left, I packed up a few extra treats I had and told her:
**“Take these for the kids.”**
To me, it wasn't some huge act of kindness.
It was simply…
**one struggling mama understanding another struggling mama.**
What I didn't know was that she NEVER forgot that day.
Her daughter looked at me and said:
“My mom always remembered how you treated her. She said you never made her feel embarrassed because she didn't have much. You treated her like her order mattered.”
That's when MY tears started.
Because what her mother apparently never knew was…
**HER ORDER MATTERED TO ME TOO.**
While she was worried about giving **HER daughter** a birthday…
I was trying to provide for **MINE.**
We were two mothers helping each other without either one of us fully understanding what the other was going through.
**She needed a cake.**
**I needed someone to believe in my little business.**
And somehow, God allowed us to be a blessing to each other. 💜
I looked back down at the letter.
There was one final request:
**“Sherell, if you're reading this, I wasn't able to come get my cake. Please don't let it go to waste. I want you to find another mother and give it to her. Don't tell her it came from me. Just tell her somebody wanted her to know that she's STILL HERE… and she's STILL BLESSED.”**
Y'ALL.
I LOST IT. 😭😭😭
But there was still one thing I needed to know.
I looked at her daughter.
**“Where is your mom?”**
She took a deep breath.
“She's in the hospital.”
My heart DROPPED.
Then she smiled through her tears.
**“But she's alive.”**
I looked over at that purple and gold cake.
**STILL HERE.
STILL BLESSED.**
And suddenly…
those words meant something completely different.
Her mother had been battling cancer.
The cake wasn't actually for her birthday.
Every year, she celebrated the anniversary of the day doctors told her she might not survive.
She called it her…
**“STILL HERE DAY.” 💜**
But this year, instead of celebrating herself, she wanted that cake to simply brighten someone else's day.
So that's exactly what we did.
The next day, that purple and gold cake left my studio.
But it didn't go to the woman who ordered it.
**It went to another mother as a simple “JUST BECAUSE” gift. 💜🎂**
No special occasion.
No birthday.
No celebration.
Just something unexpected to hopefully put a smile on somebody's face and make her day a little sweeter.
She didn't know who paid for it.
She didn't know about the letter.
She didn't know what had happened in my little home kitchen all those years ago.
She didn't know the story behind the words written across that cake.
All she knew was that someone, somewhere, wanted to do something nice for her…
**JUST BECAUSE. 💜**
And sometimes, I think those are the best kinds of blessings.
The ones you weren't expecting.
The ones you didn't ask for.
The ones that simply show up and remind you that somebody was thinking about you.
So she received that purple and gold cake with four simple words:
**STILL HERE.
STILL BLESSED. 💜**
And standing there in the cake studio I have TODAY, I couldn't help but think about the woman I was back then.
A waitress.
A single mother.
A home baker.
Just trying to make enough money to take care of my daughter while praying that this little cake business might actually become something one day.
I had **NO IDEA** where God would take it.
I had no idea that some of the people who supported me back then would still be part of my story YEARS later.
And I certainly didn't know that a cake I made for one struggling mother…
while I was a struggling mother myself…
would somehow come full circle.
That's why when I call my customers **FAMILY**, I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
Because y'all didn't JUST buy cakes from me.
**YOU HELPED BUILD THIS.**
Every order.
Every referral.
Every share.
Every person who told somebody:
**“I know a lady who makes cakes.”**
Every person who took a chance on me when I was baking from my home kitchen.
You helped a single mother provide for her daughter.
You helped a waitress become a business owner.
You helped a home baker keep believing that maybe her little dream could become something bigger.
And years later…
**HERE I AM.**
Still baking.
Still creating.
Still dreaming.
Still grateful.
**STILL HERE.
STILL BLESSED. 💜🎂**
Sometimes I think I'm just making cake.
But every once in a while, God reminds me…
**IT WAS NEVER JUST CAKE.**
💜 **She Treats by Sherell** 💜
And if you've EVER supported my business in any way—whether you ordered a cake, bought a treat, shared a post, referred somebody, took one of my classes, encouraged me, or simply followed along and watched this dream grow…
**Leave me a 💜 in the comments.**
Because whether you realized it or not…
**YOU became part of my story too. 💜**
