Here’s my favorite part of a military wedding: the couple walks through raised sabres, is stopped before getting through the last part of the arch, kisses before the sabres are raised again, and the bride is swatted on the b***y, and told, “Welcome to the Army!”

We had the honor and privilege of attending the wedding of a good friend from Life Teen days, Landis Ford and his bride, Melissa Bentley (insert joke here about her name change from Bentley to Ford, but according to Merv, lover of all things Shelby Mustang, it’s an upgrade!). We helped out by playing their music during the ceremony (Lord of the Rings pieces -surprise!) then dj’ed their reception. Lots of old friends, including Clint Ford, Sean Michael Noah, Christine Vitiello, Matthew Bozone.... Landis looked handsome in his uniform, but Melissa was absolutely beautiful! Congratulations, Landis and Melissa!

Today we had the chance to dj at a really sweet couple’s wedding reception. Merv and I met the groom when he was in high school (around the time we started dating while working with Life Teen). The couple included two things we’ve never done before: a “Second Line” song to kick off the dancing, like the ones in New Orleans where people participate in a celebratory parade procession (the “First Line” is a reference to mourners of a funeral procession - it was the Second Line’s job to change the focus into more of a celebration of life); the second thing was the groom washing his bride’s feet, to emulate Christ serving his apostles and his church by washing their feet. It was a beautiful reception and we had a great time! I received permission from the bride and groom’s mothers to post photos.

Tonight, we dj’ed the reception at All Saints Anglican Church on Ebeneezer Road for Maddie and Michael Shultz. Beautiful couple, wonderful location, and the rain held off!
