Thinking about fall pruning? Before you start snipping, there are a few plants that are better left alone for now. Cutting them back too early can remove next year’s blooms or cause winter damage.

Hold off on pruning:
* Spring bloomers like lilacs, forsythia, and bigleaf hydrangeas
* Evergreens and semi-evergreens
* Woody perennials like lavender and butterfly bush
* Plants that provide winter food or shelter for wildlife
