We hosted the most lovely Bridal Shower yesterday for the bride-to-be, Eliza. This shower was complete with a build your own bouquet bar and had the most impressive grazing table we’ve ever seen by the very talented Kara of The Babic Catering Company LLC.

Another Day, Another Door! 🚪

Just out here building our 5th barn door for the property. At TSH we take pride in doing most of the work ourselves.💪

The Soule House is cleaning house……or barn as it were! We've gone through the 3rd floor of the house and 2nd floor of our outbuildings and have loaded up the carriage barn with our finds. Everything from kitchen items, old mason jars, old cast iron frying pans (1 griswold to be exact!), 1960's vintage head skis, misc chairs and rockers, antique carpenter's tool chest, old suitcases, barn board pulled from our 1880 cannery just begging for you to repurpose. Also a little bit of new mixed in as well!

We pulled out some old barn board from our retired 1880 Dairy Barn to have this sign created. Thank you Bill from Ye Olde Sign Shoppe on another job well done!

Newel Post Alert!🚨 (See what we did there?! Hehe! 🤭)

Newel posts have been used since the 18th century as architectural elements and structural supports for staircases. They became especially popular in the Victorian Era. While our newel post may not be overly intricate, we still love the stately vibes.

It is rumored that a copy of the house plans were rolled up and placed in the newel post upon completion. You will also hear it told in many historical homes that the presence of the “mortgage button” (the plug/cap at the center of the post) meant that there was no lien on your property. The k**b, however, is just a decorative way to cover up the joinery.

We are unsure what secrets may or may not be hidden in our newel post but the loose piece on top sure does make us wonder! Check out comments to view.
