Nova Labs is fortunate to have found a partner to help us with the financing to buy our permanent home in the City Of Fairfax! Things are getting more and more organized every week, and we’re having classes and tours regularly- stop by and check us out!

Freedom Bank puts its IDEAS into action to drive #clientsuccess. When a DC-area non-profit 501(c)(3) organization wanted to purchase its owner-occupied flex office warehouse space, Freedom Bank facilitated an efficient and seamless process. Located in the City of Fairfax, Virginia, Nova Labs supports a wide range of open-source development projects that benefit both the local community and the world. At Freedom our experienced bankers find creative ways to help clients secure the capital they need to grow their business.

Nova Labs 3.0 - Late January 2022 Update

Updates on our build progress, including links to two walk-through videos of NL3 showing the rapid progress week-to-week. Check out our blog below:

We’ve been busy and productive these last few weeks. We’re finishing phase 1 construction, separating our space from our tenant, SunDog. And in huge news, 1916 in Reston is now empty! All tools, materials, and furniture have moved to Nova Labs’ new home at 3850 Jermantown Road, Fairfax VA. Tha...

Catch ya later NL2 and #reston - you were an awesome #makerspace, but we’re off to a home we own in the #cityoffairfax. Come find us on Jermantown Road - we still have some unpacking and plenty of #volunteer opportunities over the next few weeks, but some shops have already been talking about getting back to making ASAP (we think the #blacksmiths are just really excited about being able to work indoors!).

Nova Labs 3.0 Build Tour - Mid January 2022

If you haven't had an opportunity to learn about our new home in the City of Fairfax, VA, 3-D Printer steward Paul takes us on a tour of the still-in-progress build-out of our new space. Changes are happening EVERY DAY by our dedicated volunteers, and this video will be out of date before we know it, but here's where things stand as of a few days ago.

This weekend is when the majority of what's left in Reston gets moved; there are volunteer opportunities for packing and helping our professional movers know where to put stuff (along with painting, drywall, and other tasks at Nova Labs 3.0). Please consider coming out and lending a hand!

Nova Labs #volunteers have been hard at work moving our #woodshop and #metalshop (and every other shop not pictured here, including our #craft area, the #lasercutters #blacksmith shop, to name a few). The biggest equipment has already been transported by riggers to the @cityoffairfaxva. We’re preparing for this weekend’s #move by @jkmoving of the rest of the shops so we can be out of NL2 in Reston by the end of the month. #progress #makerspace

Thank you to all of the volunteers who came out this weekend to help prepare for the big move of Nova Labs 2 (in Reston) to Nova Labs 3.0 (in the City of Fairfax). We made a ton of progress the past 2 days, plus people have been busy all week at both locations preparing, cleaning, and packing.

This week many shops move over with the help of professional movers, and we’ll start setting up so we can get back to making. But, we still need your help (and patience) over the coming weeks. Please be on the lookout for opportunities both during the week, at night, and on the weekend.
