We have been quiet here keeping a big secret so we are excited that we can now finally tell you all!

Over the last year, life has dramatically shifted for our owner, Stacey. Through those life changes she knew it was time to let go of DSM, but didn’t want to leave a gap in the Lakeside neighborhood she loves dearly, a community that has grown to depend on DSM for local gifts and household goods. Through that process, life crossed paths with a talented photographer and maker who happened to be looking for a business opportunity. Amber and Stacey immediately felt this was all meant to be and both felt a strong connection to a vision in keeping this place for local makers and community to come together. With that long story span over many months made short, we are excited to introduce Amber, the next owner of DSM!

As we transition over the next few weeks, Amber will be working in the shop learning the ropes and getting to know you all. Hours have changed slightly to accommodate for that process, however expect for hours to be back to a normal schedule come April. If you happen to pass by and the “Open” light is on during normal closed hours… surprise, Amber is there doing work preparing the shop and work for her existing business, … so you can feel free to pop in and shop or say hi!

We will be sharing more about Amber and what to expect over the coming days. For now, know we are so grateful to all of you for your continued support and we are so excited for Amber and all she will help bring to the community! Thank you for making this all possible for her, and making a dream into reality since 2020 and for many more years to come! 💙💙💙

What an incredible 2025 John Beargrease Sled Dog Race for photos! It was all about catching up with friends and, of course, tons of lovable dogs. They definitely made me work for those photos by demanding I pay a pet me tax, but it was worth it. By race's end, the dogs knew exactly who to come to for the best pets and butt scratches. I even got "hugged" by a couple of them at the finish line wanting their butts scratched! This is why I love this – being surrounded by so much positivity, dogs and people alike. Seriously, who wouldn't want to be part of that? It was just the best!

Sax-Zim Bog is a 1,200-acre peatland bog located in the Superior National Forest in northern Minnesota. It is one of the largest and most intact bogs in the United States, and is home to a wide variety of birds, animals, and plant life.
